Mayor Hall hangs out with Karen Hernandez, Ivan Samaniego and Maria Moriano of  Mexico

Prince George, B.C.-  The wind maybe cold,  but  international students  in Prince George have been given a warm welcome.

The annual  welcoming party  at City Hall  features music,  food , and information  about the  city and what it can offer  the students who  have chosen to study here.

Between UNBC and CNC  there are over a thousand  international students in Prince George .  That’s a huge  boost to the local economy.  “Each student spends between $10 and $15 thousand dollars  while they are here,  and that’s just for accommodation” says CNC President  Henry Reiser. CNC says enrolment  of international students  is  up 25% this year  over last.

Mayor Hall thanked the students  for  enriching Prince George’s  cultural diversity.

Normally,  students would be invited to tour the Prince George Council  Chambers  as part of the  afternoon celebration,  but today, the Chamber is being prepared for this evening’s digital town hall meeting to  deal with  questions about the proposed  Four Seasons Pool replacement.
