Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George Service Canada Centre for Youth mobile office is camped out at the Skate Park today, as they strive to post more casual job vacancies for casual job promotion week.
Vivian Houg, Youth Services Officer, says they have already reached their goal of 75 postings but they now have a new goal, “We had 77 postings as of yesterday, but if we reach 100 vacancies Shirley Kimery, Director of Citizen Services-Service Canada will streak her hair green. So now our motto is help us go green!”
The Service Canada Centre for Youth posts casual positions for tasks such as lawn mowing, painting and general housework duties that require anywhere from 2 hours to several hours throughout the week.
120 youth have signed up with the Centre so far and most will be available for work throughout the summer. Although the Centre closes August 15, people are encouraged to phone now as the Centre will still post jobs that are required past this date.
The Service Canada Job Bank is also available year round which utilizes the UNBC and CNC student centre’s for referrals.
