Prince George, B.C. - It has been three weeks since the Volunteer Fire Department of Willow River watched in shock as their fire hall and truck went up in flames.
This week, some good news.
It isn’t new, but it is functional. Beaverly’s Volunteer Fire Rescue department has a surplus 1967 Tender that has been out of service since the end of 2006.
Beaverly Fire Rescue has now donated the tender to Willow River in an effort to help that volunteer fire department rebuild. “This is great news” says Electoral Area F Director Kevin Dunphy, “I can’t wait to get home and tell the boys they have another fire truck, thank you.”
Dunphy says the plans to rebuild are still being developed “We would like to build something alittle better than what we had, something that will have some space for training or meetings, but nothing’s been finalized.” Dunphy says the Building Committee will meet later this month and by that time, the details from the insurance company will be available so they will have a better idea of just what kind of dollars they will have to work with.

The local volunteer fire fighters are carrying on the bloodlines of the original fire fighters that met communities need for helping out and being good neighbours.
IMO the city fire department has lost itself to politics, unions and self impotance.
