Prince George, B.C. - With Canfor Executives just two weeks away from making a recommendation to the Board of Directors on the fate of the North Central Plywood, the union representing the workers is calling for some pressure.
Earlier this week, Pulp Paper and Woodworkers Union Local 25, has circulated a letter to area MLAs calling on them to pressure Canfor to rebuild the facility that was burned to the ground May 26th.
Here is a copy of the letter:

We bought some Select Plywood two weeks ago and it was NCP wood. But it was pretty crappy for Select. After we filled sanded and painted it you couple see a couple sheets had a glue problem as they had yellow runs that bled out of the wood.

I hope NCP is rebuilt in PG as well, but I also hope they don't use the same old technology and tools. Time to buy some good true cutters and peelers and glue assembly for better quality this time.

Canfor should also look at building other products out of sawdust with their assembly plant, like counter tops, for export.
How much influence did the politicians have in Mackenzie? None. So why would it be any different now. I too really hope NCP is rebuilt, but the politicians have no control over that. Canfor will do what's best for their bottom line.
"Canfor will do what's best for their bottom line". Kinda makes you wonder if they were in the textile business if they would be in Thailand hiring 11 year old kids to sew clothes for Nike.
Yama-You know nothing about plywood construction and your post shows it. Cutters and peelers?
Yellow glue?!?
Stick to things you know, otherwise the posts you make have no credibility.
There are other plywood plants, in BC that are currently down because of poor markets. Why rebuild a mill when there are some sitting idle?

In particular, why rebuild a mill in the heart of the mountain pine beetle epidemic when plywood plants require some of the highest quality logs? IE not checked.

"Why rebuild when others are idle". We all know the US of A will build houses out of wood again. Rebuilding NCP while the market is in the toilet, to be ready for the lumber market upside makes sense. As for NCP timber supply, Fort St. James and Mackenzie sit at the bottom of the two largest forest districts as far as diverse timber in the province. With Canfor sitting on all that insurance money, seems like a great investment opportunity and either of those communities would welcome a plywood plant built there.

I used to work at NCP.
Yama - Peelers? You mean a lathe? Cutters? I'm not even sure what you mean by that. Yellow glue? One of the ingredients in plywood glue is blood, hence the glue is dark red, not yellow. Maybe you thought pitch was glue?
If indeed you did work at NCP you suely had no idea what was going on around there.
