Cariboo –Prince George MP D ick Harris says he expects the Liberals will make an announcement that they also will pledge 1 billion dollars towards the fight to control the beetle infestation in BC.

Harris says, "The big winners if the Liberals do that will be the people of this province."

The Conservatives had earlier pledged 1 billion to fight the problem after Stephen Harper toured the region.

"I expect" said the MP "that the Liberals will do some polls and then say, well, do we forget about BC or do we put some serious money into the program? "

Asked about his understanding of the time frame to deal with the problem,  Harris said between 5 and 7 years is the time he expects it will take before trying to find enough fiber becomes a serious problem in this province.

Harris further added that it is time the province put a serious foot forward towards trying to change the dependence on fiber in this province.
"We all will be affected" he said "when there is shortage of wood to be harvested."   Harris says dealing with the problem today is not a high priority for Paul Martin, "He would sooner campaign than govern and that is hurting this country “ .

Meantime, The Prime Minister  had dinner with U.S. Secretary  of State Condoleeza Rice last night in Ottawa. The softwood issue  was one of the items Paul Martin  pledged to  discuss with Rice on this her first visit to Canada.

I have lost all faith in what come out of a Librals mouth. Its all LIES,LIES & more LIES.Paul Martin is spouting off and shaking his little chicken *** fists at the U S, but we all know its just to get votes because he knows his ass is going to be on the umemployment line.God help Canada if the Fiberals get back in.
It is very easy for Mr. Harris and his party, whatever it is called now, to pledge money they haven't got. They have to be elected first to get their hands in the trough. They would have to claw some of that money back to pay their pensions that they didn't want though. Same trough, just different feeders.
