l-r Dan Rogers, Terri McClymont, Pat delaRonde, Shirley Gratton, Don Zurowski, Ernie Myers and Anne Martin celebrate Proclamation of August as Communities in Bloom Month in Prince George.
Prince George, B.C. – It isn’t a big garden but it is an example of what people can do in their own backyards. That was the message from Anne Martin, Chair of the Communities in Bloom Committee in Prince George. She is talking about the wheelchair accessible herb garden that has been set up behind the Elder Citizens’ Recreation Centre on 10th Avenue.
The garden is a raised, box garden that has plantings of parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme, along with chives and marjoram. All the herbs are for use in the Elders’ Centre.
The garden was built with the help of a $250 dollar grant from the Communities In Bloom Enhancement Grants.
The judges for the annual garden and greenery contest will be in Prince George August 7-9th. Martin is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase Prince George “It’s the time to show off our community as best we can.”
