Prince George, B.C. - Workers at the Harmac pulp mill in Nanaimo have been given one more week to put together a solid  business bid for the mill.

Supreme Court Justice Donald Brenner extended the deadline today.

Last week Judge Brenner ordered the immediate shut down of the mill and gave the mill's worker/management group and their investors one more week to improve their insufficient bid.

The receiver , Price Waterhouse, says it has  some bidders in the background waiting to  get their hands on the property, none of whom want to operate the  facility as a mill.

The Harmac workers/management group got some strong financial backing from Columbia Pulp & Paper, the Canadian subsidiary of Asia Pulp & Paper.  Columbia Pulp and Paper joined the workers bid earlier this week with an offer of $11.1 million towards the purchase of Harmac.

Don't these guys Know Jimmy P. is putting a huge golf development next door. I'm pretty sure what Jimmy wants Jimmy gets. Good luck guys.
Buying the mill is one thing- running it at a profit another- Will need at least $100 million line of credit to run this mill- will be extremely interesting to see how a Union deals with it's own union employees-
Dogs
The people that run the union are union employees.
If it wasn't for unions you'd be slave labour.
Lostfaith- guess I am a slave I am non-union and do not believe in them at all- all the union leaders are crooks.
I am sure you have evidence of your accusation, might it be your 8 dollar an hr job compared to my 26 dollar an hr job?
Perhaps you are talking real genuine criminal activity here, are you?
You should have evidence to back your accusation as you may need it to back your self up in court. I know if I was called a crook in public I'd be filing court documents.
Not very intellegent to make claims you can't provide any evidence to back them up with.
Gee- I though in Canada one was entitled to their own personnal opinion and since this is a general statement and not a statement against anyone in particular I see noting wrong with it. As a right winger I do not believe in Unions and no use for them. PS I only make $6 hour as a training wage.
