By 250 Sports
Prince George, B.C.- The ice is ready and the main training camp for the Prince George Spruce Kings starts today.
The camp starts this afternoon with registration at 1:00 and continues through the weekend ending with the annual Blue and White Intra-Squad Game at 3:00pm on Sunday.
Registration, practices and all games will be at the Prince George Coliseum, home of the Spruce Kings; this year there will also be an off-ice fitness testing module for camp participants.
The Prince George Spruce Kings 13th season in the British Columbia Hockey League starts Friday September 5th but there will be some pre-season exhibition games. There will be a pair of neutral site games against the Burnaby Express in the brand new EnCana Events Centre in Dawson Creek on Wednesday August 27 and Thursday August 28. The three remaining pre-season games will all be against the Quesnel Millionaires starting with the first game on Tuesday August 26 and concluding with a weekend set on Saturday August 30 and a matinee affair on Sunday August 31.
The Spruce Kings are expecting to carry a roster of between 30 and 35 players hand picked from the crop of returning and new recruits competing for attention at the main camp. Along with the long list of returning players, the main camp will provide a first look opportunity at some of the teams off-season acquisitions in Alex Allan, Sean Ambrosie, Adam Baldassarre, Joe Becker, RJay Berra, Nicolas Desousa, Justin Fillion and Travis Gorman.
All sessions of the main camp and the annual Blue White Intra-Squad Game will be open to the public as fans are encouraged to come down to the Coliseum and see the young talent on the ice as they compete for spots on the Spruce Kings final roster.
