Dollars for New Plan to Support Mining Industry

Prince George, B.C.- In what appears to be another re-election announcement, M.P. Dick Harris delivered a cheque for $115 thousand dollars today to the 16/97 Alliance.

The money will be used to put together a plan for change for companies that would normally service the forest industry to servicing the mining industry

For example, companies that did environmental consulting work for forestry could supply that same environmental expertise, but in a mining context. The 16/97 Alliance ( which represents communities along the two highways) recognized that what is needed is a plan to bring the forestry support and supply companies together so they can see the opportunities and make the changes necessary to support and supply the mining industry.

With a billion cubic meters of wood expected to be ravaged by the beetle by 2013, this, said Harris, is the time to look at the challenges of the mountain pine beetle and create new opportunities.

Harris says there are more announcements on the way for the west and promised “they will be good ones”.

Wow, Dick Harris must be pretty desperate to get a news item. He wasted that much money thru red tape. Why bother with the big announcement?

If the B.C.Liberals wanted to survive over the long term they would dump Campbell just as fast as they can!
There ARE some good people in the B.C.Liberal party, but Campbell and his inner circle of puppets and control freaks are choking the rest of them.
They need to grow some backbone and deal with him.
I suspect he is buying support from the party by handing out our tax dollars in the form of fat raises!
B.C.deserves better than this bozo!

Andy, why drop Campbell, as long as Carole James is running the New Dumdum Party. Its a shoe in for Campbell.

Dump Campbell because he's leading the resurgence in support for the NDP. Look how many seats they lost in the last election. Now think about the things he's been doing lately. I see the NDP forming the next government.

You may very well be right He speaks...but personally,I doubt I would ever wouldn't vote New Dum Dum anyway so I really don't care!
I just want to see Campbell's arrogant sorry ass gone!

The real answer is you can't, unless of course you believe that Gordon Campbell and the rest of the BC Government can control the spread of pests, the US housing market and the fate of the Canadian dollar.
