Prince George, B.C.- There are some big things happening through Initiatives Prince George. President and CEO Tim McEwan says  within days there will be a memorandum of understanding signed with a Chinese logistics company, and within months there will be a special forum to market the whole package.
“We are   planning a forum with logistics providers from the U.S, prospectively China, and developers from Alberta, B.C. and the rest of Western Canada to highlight and sell the opportunities there are with the Airport Logistics Park.”
The timing is important as the Airport is hopeful it will welcome its first re-fuelling stop flight this fall.
“Now that we have the successful Agricultural Land Commission decision, and the Air logistics task force continues to meet weekly to realize the opportunity that’s there. So we are driving forward on a very aggressive implementation timeline. And the marketing forum will be aimed at the opportunity that lies before us.”
McEwan says they hope to have the forum before the snow flies so they can showcase the opportunity with the airport, the runway and the property.

From this perspective the runway looks like a gun aimed at Northwood Pulp. Coincidence or conspiracy?
Great news. We use tax dollars to build the runway and then give Horizon airlines $400,000.00 to use it. What the hell ever happened to free enterprise?

All around us economies are booming in Prince George it lives on tax dollars.

Cheers.
I know what your saying Bridge. Perhaps one day the rest of the sheep will too.
Until then they will simply keep looking into the sunset saying Baaaaaaaaaaaaa.
Two good news positive stories (Prince George Airport expansion & Prince Rupert container terminal success) all on the same morning!

My cup runneth over! Have a nice day!
Bridge I have always noticed that is how free enterprise works, looking for and getting handouts.
Way to go IDL, Looks real good.
Great News... GO P.G. GO. Lets leave all of these short sighted naysayers in the dust. Prince George will not look back.
Lets leave all of these short sighted naysayers in the dust. Prince George will not look back.

I have lived in Prince George off and on since 1965. And I have seen lots of dust and I have seen people drown in thier own tears. But it has been a great place to work and raise a family

In the late 70's when the economy was booming many people arrived here from the coast bought homes and settled in. In the early summer of 1981 the economy went bust. They were giving houses and lots away. In 2001 you could again buy a nice 1200sq ft home for around $115,000.00. in Pinecone sub.

So Prince George goes bust and boom like the rest of the province. There is one difference. Its dependent on natural resourses to survive. We have these dreamers that cant see past the end of their nose to try and develope a secondary industry. They have become to entrenched with the idea that tax dollars will get us up and runing. Problem is when the economy is in the dumper there are no extra tax dollars.

Our dreamers are trying to pretend tha t Prince George will become a big metropalis like they have left beind. And Prince George does not have the climate to attract people and it is spending tax dollars on promating the economy instead of making it a place where people want to live.

Cheers
I like the climate here.

The governments spend tons and bags full of money in the big smoke down south, so why not spend some bucks here in PG?

Spending money on the economy IS making PG a place to live. You think people are living in trailer shacks in Ft McMurray because someone made Ft McM a place to live? It's the economy ... that makes a place for people to live. What were you thinking would take the place of the economy in PG, huh???
"And Prince George does not have the climate to attract people and it is spending tax dollars on promating the economy instead of making it a place where people want to live."

What does climate have to do with people moving here?? Edmonton is quite a large ctr and it's climate isn't exactly balmy - um, and what about "winterpeg", I hear it makes PG seem warm in the winter? Did you read what you wrote here? Economy is what attracts people, not the weather. You sound a tad synical, you don't have dreams? You would like to leave PG like it is now? What is your vision Bridge, I'm curious.
The last that I herd Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta. It has a different economy then Prince George. Ditto for Winterpeg. Did you read what I wrote robichal? Imjust gave you my vision of Prince George. We dont have a choice. As long as we have governments that try to manipulate the economy . Its function is to govern and the economy should be MARKET driven. And those are my dreams.

And Yama, the king of captalism, wants us to be a socialist state.

Synical is spelled; CYNICAL.
