Vancouver, B.C.-  The B.C. Lions have traded  Joe Smith to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and pick up  Bomber's Charles roberts in return.  Smith was the CFL's, the league's leading rusher last season and Roberts  has  rushed for  1,000 yards every year  in the league.

Lions Coach Wally Buono  issued a statement which says ""Charles is a very talented player with an excellent football resume and I believe he will be an exciting addition to our team"

Smith was in his third season with the Lions but had been a healthy scratch as Stefan Logan took over the rushing job.
