More Federal Money For Highways

Fort St. John, B.C.- Yet another infrastructure funding announcement from the Federal Government just days ahead of the Prime Minister calling an election.
Prince George Peace River M.P Jay Hill has announced nearly $15 million dollars in shared funding for highway improvements along Highway 97 between Road 271 and Charlie Lake.
The highway improvement will involve creating four lanes along a 3.2-km stretch of Highway 97 (Alaska Highway) from Road 271 to Charlie Lake. The project is to be completed by the fall of 2009.
Other announcements on shared funding for highway infrastructure include:
- $30.5 million for the four laning of Highway 97 in Prince George from the Simon Fraser Bridge to Sintich Road.
- A further $21.5 million to four lane the Hixon Bridge and to four lane a section of highway 97 from Dale Lake Road to Dragon Lake Road in Quesnel.
