Bill Stephanuk from Cranbrook expression says it all

Prince George, B.C. – With a red carpet entrance, Colour Guard, bag pipes and David Cook’s Time of Your Life playing in the background , one could not help but be inspired at last night’s 2008 Seniors Games opening ceremonies.

The generations of 55 plus athletes were like kids in a candy store as they piled into Kin 1 for the ceremony.

Although the atmosphere in Kin 1 was no Olympic stadium, walking into a sea of different coloured jackets representing individual zones, communities and events is something most people dream being a part of.

With athletes in their 90s, some competing in the games over ten times and many others competing in events such as the 1500 meter run (that youth 1/4 their age cannot complete), these seniors are fantastic role models for generations to come.

The torch has now been lit and the games will continue over the next few days.
