Prince George , B.C.- The City of Prince George picked up five blooms for its efforts in the International Communities in bloom competition.

The City of Prince George Parks and Solid Waste Services Division is responsible for, and has taken ownership of, the quality of turf for both sport and passive park users. The enhanced maintenance program developed by the municipality has ensured quality turf through the management of weed and disease using proven sustainability techniques. The program to provide quality turf, free of both weed and disease, has been developed to utilize best practices of Integrated Pest Management, aeration, top dressing, over seeding, and mowing frequencies. The municipality has partnered with the University of Northern British Columbia in a sustainability landscape project researching alternative ground covers and maintenance regimes appropriate for differing site requirements. The success of this program is evident through the excellent reviews received from both national and international tournament organizers.

How much of our road repair budget was spent on this fantastic competition?
Start driving on the turf...
Ya but they bought all those pretty rocks to prevent that sort of thing.
Actually none of the road repair budget was spent on this, as of course, the road repair budget is separate. The issue is this city doesn't budget anywhere near enough for the repair and preventative maintenance of the roads.
almost midnight and still no pat on the back....
I love the fields in the city, congrats to those who made it so.

Oh, hum bug to those who don`t at least walk on them once in a while..
Great job by the city. We placed well in other categories last year. Good too see us on top of a different category this time.

The grass in Fort George was AWESOME this year too. Nothing better than barefoot frisbee in Fort George in the summer.
How about the dandylions in fort George Park?
I guess they come under flowers another catagory.

Cheers
