Concept  of how  Site "C" might look on Peace River near Taylor

The Site “C” dam project returns to Prince George in a little over a month for round two of the consultation process.

This time the consultation will be looking for input on the following subjects:

·      Site C as an energy option
·      Powerhouse access bridge and associated access roads
·      Reservoir preparation considerations
·      Dam construction materials and disposal areas

Information gathered in round 2 will be used with the technical and financial information  to fine tune some of the elements of the design of the potential dam. The feedback will also be used in defining the scope of other studies including environmental and technical concerns.

While the matter returns to Prince George November 3rd at the Ramada Hotel, the guide for discussion and a feedback form will be available online as of the 1st of October.

Written submissions can be e-mailed to sitec@bchydro.com or mailed to PO Box 2218, Vancouver, B.C. V6B 3W2 or faxing: 604 623-4332 or 250 785-3570.

Quit fartin around and get on with it. There is my public opinion.
Enough already...Just build it!!
I do agree build it
I just hope it stays as public owned
WAC Bennett and his crowd understood the importance of publicly owned power generation
I will neither say I agree or disagree,
but I do believe that all this consulting
is a "make it look good farce", before they do what they want anyways.
They joys of a super majority government...they can do what they like and no one can stop them....
would be nice to see a minority government next time....
I just hope it stays as public owned.

If Gordo has his way it will probably be built by the taxpayer and given to an American corp for profit. He will retire and live a wealthy life after.

Cheers
Stay public owned. Let me tell you a little story about when the utilities of each province met at a conference.
Ontario Power and BCH chairmen were both in a room laughing their heads off.

A reporter asked what was so funny.

The head of Ontario power said. We are so far in debt with the nuclear program to produce power, we can never be sold off to the public.

The head of BC Hydro pipes up and says, We make so much money for the provice they can't afford to sell us off to the public.
"...would be nice to see a minority government next time...."

That would require in B.C. the election of a number of MLAs from a third party (aside from the NDP and the Liberals) who could then throw their support behind one of the main parties which does not have enough MLAs to form a majority government all by itself.

Now, which party does have sufficient support in B.C. to pull that off?

By the way, when the BCNDP formed the government for a whole decade it never had a *super majority* and still, it passed whatever it wanted to pass. A simple majority is all that is required as long as everybody shows up when its time to vote and not enough cross the floor to upset the applecart.
Looking at the picture of the dam I am struck by the apparent fact that the level behind the dam is the same as the level below the dam.

Not much power can be generated that way, if any...

They show the water level that way as to not alarm the people about what the destruction of a very beautiful part of the province will really look like after this thing is built.
I would like to see a study of the environmental impacts of Site C coming into production. Until a full analysis is done, it should not be built. THe same goes for "Run of the River" power projects. We need and deserve a comprehensive study to determine the costs to the environment as well as to the energy consumers. The results of these studies MUST be made public.
Just build it...we know it is going to have to happen one day soon.
The only issue I have is I would not trust the Campbell government to set up the deal!
We just KNOW the taxpayers here in B.C. will get screwed and some corporation will get one hell of a deal.
I also think that after the deal is done,Gordon Campbell will retire with a smile!(assuming he is still around of course!)
And I agree with the others,...this is NOT an accurate picture of what it will look like!
Not even close!
Is that a god dam?
