Premier Unveils Citizens Conservation Councils on Climate Action

Prince George, B.C.- Six people from Prince George, have been named to the eight member  Citizen's Conservation Council on Climate Action for the Cariboo-Prince George region.

The Premier announced the Councils today at the Union of B.C.  Municipalities Convention. The government has appointed seven Citizens' Conservation Councils on Climate Action representing the following regions:
* Cariboo-Prince George
* Skeena-North Coast
* Northeast
* Vancouver Island-Coast
* Lower Mainland-Southwest
* Thompson-Okanagan
* Kootenay


The Citizens' Conservation Councils will help build a network of grassroots climate action throughout our province," said Premier Campbell. "Every community and region in B.C. brings unique
opportunities to meet the challenges of climate change. Over the coming months, the councils will develop creative and innovative ideas to inspire British Columbians to take personal actions at home, at work,
and in their neighbourhoods."

The Citizens' Conservation Councils will advise government on the best ways to encourage individuals, local business and communities in their regions to learn more about climate change, participate in climate
action initiatives, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

* Cathy De Grace, Prince George
* Mayor Jeanette Townsend, Valemount
* Mayor Len Fox, Vanderhoof

Skeena-North Coast council members:
* Gerrit Apperloo, Dease Lake
* Mayor Alice Maitland, Hazelton
* Mayor Sharon Smith, Houston
* Mayor Herb Pond, Prince Rupert
* Severn Cullis Suzuki, Queen Charlotte
* Mayor Barry Pages, Skeena-Queen Charlotte
* Phil Bandstra, Smithers
* Theresa Morris, Smithers
* Tim Tchida, Smithers
* Mayor Angela Brand Danuser, Stewart
* Art Sterritt, Terrace
* Mayor Jake Talstra, Terrace

So, those are the people with creative and innovative ideas to inspire. No preachers included. "A network of grassroots climate action" I never realized that activities can network. Always thought that it was people that networked. Informative and creative already.
Them folks get an honorarium to help pay for overtaxed and overpriced gas to get to their "important" meetings? And maybe a year end wind up at maybe Whistler or Harrison Hot Springs to let the government show it's appreciation for these folk's time and trouble? Talk really isn't cheap in some respects. The only challenge I have with this so called "climate change" is paying for it.
