Premier Gordon Campbell says there will be no reversing of the Carbon Tax in BC. Speaking at the Union of BC Municipal convention Campbell said we already are feeling the effects of the climate change in BC with the mountain pine beetle and the floods. Our forests are decimated he said,  and the problems are not going away.

We need to look to the future not for our generation,  but to ensure that the generation that are coming after us are properly looked after.

Campbell said the people of BC can decide next May whether they like the idea of a carbon tax or not.

Carol James, BC New Democratic Party Leader says if her party is elected they will scrap the tax.

Voter's say no going back on Campbell!! Cheers!
No surprise there...it's extra money for the Gov't, why would they take it back. I still would like to know where this $$$ is going...there is absolutely NO accountability. This is not democracy.
That's ok Campbell, the NDP say they will get rid of it when you're gone.
Cut the tolls on the Coq and nail us in the north with carbon tax.
So, finally, Campbell admits that global warming is the major cause of the pine beetle epidemic! About time he told the truth.
LOL the pine beetle is a global warming problem? What a joke.
Global warming? In 98 the climate temp flattened and in the last 5 years it has been declining. The sun drives climate and its energy level has been falling. I suggest getting another blanket as mama its going to get cold. Oh by the way Al Gore and suzuki are making a very good living off this scam.
Your right on, seamutt. If you want more proof that its a scam, check out http.//www.icecap.us/ and look through the archives for commentary and news reports that refute the claims that there is global warming and that it is caused by humans putting co2 into the atmosphere.

Most of our politicians along with the news media have bought in to the hypothesis that global warming is caused by co2 in the atmosphere and that burning fossil fuels are the major contributors, thus the carbon tax and yet to come, the cap and trade.

I hope that common sense will prevail eventually and that the public begins to realize the extent of the damage this is causing, not only in BC but all over the world.

I agree that we need to look at the problems of pollution of our atmosphere, our water and our soil from industries that add massive quantities of toxic stuff. We need to look at ways to reduce the amount of energy we use to heat our homes and drive our vehicles, but not for the reasons suggested by the Gore, Suzuki and others including Campbell and Dion.
The floods in PG were caused by global warming, tsk tsk
Looks like the icecap crusaders are back. Science can't come to a consensus on this, yet the armchair scientists are telling us how it is. I can produce arguments to debunk either side, and there are brilliant people representing both views. Climate change is real, its cause is debatable. If the argument against climate change could be won, don't you think big oil would be funnelling their bucks into the cause.
Now if government would target the source instead of the taxpayer.
Climate change IS happening, but the reasons are not clear, despite a lot of smart people and a lot of research.
I have no issue with that.
What I DO have issue with, is this whole "green" dream that has spun off into a multi-billion billion dollar industry by using fear tactics on the general public.
Because it is the general public that is paying for all this green crap that we are being spun...as usual.
A lot of opportunists out there looking for a fast buck, and new schemes popping up every day.
Those opportunists would also include our governments, federal and provincal, who have also picked up on the fact that once again the taxpayer can be milked for a buck.

govsux the climate has always been changing. I suggest you read some of these sceptic sites. But if not just believe the politicians and happly pay your tax without question. Did you know the natural increase of C02 is much more than mans production. Also the earth today is much greener than for the last few thousand years. Myself considering the reduced activity of the sun lately I am more inclined to buy a warmer jacket, time will tell.
oh so the ice age is coming, just like in the 70's
"Campbell said the people of BC can decide next May whether they like the idea of a carbon tax or not".
What a statement. Why didn't Gord bring up the tax in the last election? Because, as Dion is about to find out, Joe average thinks this tax to save the planet is complete BS. We are 2 % of ghg gases and China emits more than 100 Canada's. Yet somehow, we are going to change the weather!!!! This is the definition of absurd.
soon you can change your handle to "dow500"
The more money you take out of my wallet, the faster you will stop climate change/global warming. Doncha know?
