Fort. St. John, B.C.- RCMP in Prince George  have been called in to investigate a police  shooting in Fort St. John.

According to  an RCMP released,  last  evening,  Fort St. John RCMP officers responded to a report of a vehicle that was stolen two hours north of Fort St. John. Several officers responded to this call and encountered the male driver an hour later.

The driver refused to stop for the fully marked and equipped police vehicles and rammed into and disabled one of the police vehicles. The two officers exited their vehicle, however the driver drove directly at one of the officers. Sidearms were utilized to stop the driver from running over the officers. The driver then drove away. Several minutes later, he drove head-on into another police vehicle, disabling the stolen truck and the police vehicle.

Police on scene arrested the driver and immediately began first-aid treatment for the male suspect. The suspect was treated in hospital and has since been released into police custody.

The Use of Force by police is being investigated by E Division Major Crime Unit out of Prince George while Fort St. John Detachment continues their investigation into the stolen vehicle and subsequent offenses committed.
