Traffic Remains at a Standstill on 97 North of P.G.

Prince George, B.C.- Traffic is not being allowed through a road block on highway 97 north of Old Summit Lake road, where RCMP have taken a man into custody.

Officers deployed a spike belt, and had an ambulance on standby in the event their efforts to stop a southbound suspect went sour.

A 51 year old  Yellowknife man, was being saught by police  in Yellowknife. An all points bulletin had been issued for his arrest, although the reasons for that bulletin have not been disclosed.

A routine patrol  spotted the suspect's car in the Summit Lake area.  There was a police pursuit and the suspect pulled over.

A police negotiator was brought on scene, and the man  was taken into custody moments ago.

Traffic, both north and southbound, is blocked and is not being allowed through.  There is no telling when traffic will be allowed to  move again.
