Prince George, B.C.- According to the B.C. Lung Associations “State of the Air Report 2008” there is some good news, and some bad news on the air in Prince George.
The report shows Prince George is one of the communities which is seeing an increased level of ground level ozone and is among the communities with the highest levels of ambient pm2.5. However, the levels of sulphur dioxide are on a downward trend and there has been no significant change in the levels of Nitrogen Oxides.
The report shows there is still a serious problem with Pm2.5 in the Central Interior. The highest daily values of pm2.5 (as reflected by the Canada Wide Standard levels) were in Prince George and in Quesnel. The highest annual concentrations were in Grand Forks, Golden, Prince George and Quesnel.
