Prince George, B.C.- The Forestry Roundtable has two more communities to visit  and will soon develop it’s report.
Minister of Forests and Range, Pat Bell, says the most recent session was Friday with the Council of Forest Industries, and with Coast Forest Products Association. “There are two very different forest industries in the Province” says Bell, who says the Interior industry sees a much higher return on investment than their Coastal cousins “The interior is likely to come out of the downturn in a much better position than the coastal industry.”
The Forestry Roundtable will have meetings in Williams Lake and in Fort St. James in the middle of October and then it will focus on pulling together all the concerns and concepts. “I think you will see there is a willingness to be bold, and I think you will see that in our recommendations.”
Last week, Price Waterhouse Coopers issued its report on Forestry and it focused on the bleeding of red ink. Bell is not discouraged by that report “Price Waterhouse Coopers told us what has gone on over the past year. I look forward to planning for the future.”

Can anyone tell me if there are plans in place to find buyers other than the United States for our produced lumber?? IE. India, China or Japan. Some countries have hardly any wood if any at all. I would think we should be trying to acquire these markets now that the Prince Rupert port is in place. Just one womans thoughts....*Grin
