I think this money should instead be used to help pay off the huge unfunded liabilities we have in the Canada Pension Plan and Medicare.
To some,100 bucks is nothing.
But to many low income people, single mothers and fathers, and those unemployed, it is everything.
Unfortunately it may also be a way of underfunding other social programs by the government.
As in... "well gee,we already gave you a hundred bucks...we can't give anymore!"
I just think there could be a way of putting this money to better use, maybe better job training,re-location programs or heathcare,a cancer clinic...
I don't really know, but it feels like a buy off for what people DON"T have to me.
Is it money being handed out to bury the bulls**t?
lets give the masses a 100 bucks meanwhile we have the carbon tax and we will collect way more than that. Just a smoke and mirror thing by good old Gordo
Bars and dope pushers will have a busy day! In China they shoot pushers, right after they are convicted. Cuts down on appeals they say.
Personally speaking sharing the wealth this way is a lot better than plowing it into the social system. This way, we work as a province, not as individuals, and then its citizen are rewarded as a part of its success.

Sure, it is important to have a social system in place to protect the forgotten faces. but when they spend 8 million on 30 rooms, come on. That is silly.

I tell you what, I will take a 2 million dollar loan and build a hotel in the eastend of town for 60 rooms.
Hey Seamutt...I like Turkey and South Americas way of dealing with drunk drivers....lets just say they will never do it again.....sentencing is instantaneous.....
A tankful of over taxed gasoline, a few lottery tickets and refill yer Timmies card and yer good to go fer another week or two. Ain't life grand? At least til global warming/climate change affects us all to our detriment.

Scroll to Low Income Climate Action Tax--- believe you'll find we get a little payment included with the GST refunds rather than one bulk payment. My GST refund is up by 5 bucks this time. I don't believe we'll be getting any 100 buck cheque in the mail from the B.C. Gov.but all donations gratefully received if that is the case!
You are right on, sadiron. The $100 per adult, $30 per child, etc is an annual maximum amount, not a one time lump sum payment, paid out with the Federal GST. I expected better reporting from Opinion 250.
Seems to me it sucks to be middle class. We pay for everything.
