Prince George-Peace River Liberal candidate, Lindsay Gidney reads out his  economic plan while Liberal Senator Larry Campbell  stands by.

Prince George, B.C.- The Liberal Candidate for Prince George- Peace River, Lindsay Gidney, says he has an economic plan for this region.

Standing outside the North Central Plywood property with Liberal Senator Larry Campbell, Gidney outlined his ( and Stephane Dion’s) plan:

  • Fund a comprehensive National Pine Beetle Strategy. “We will dedicate an additional 250 million dollars to restore jobs, communities, and homes affected by the Pine Beetle.”
  • Forestry workers who accept temporary work while receiving benefits will be allowed to earn the greater of $75.00 or 40% of the benefits without it being clawed back. And Benefits will be based on a worker’s best 14 weeks of earnings from the 52 weeks preceding a  claim.
  • I believe a Liberal led Forestry Summit focusing on diversifying and expanding our trade in Asia, particularly China, South Korea, India and Japan, can result in a comprehensive plan that will increase trade by 4-6 times the current rate, or over 4 billion board feet a year.
  • Liberal party has targeted over $900 million towards jobs in the forestry, jobs in farming, jobs in trucking and jobs in fishing industries.

Ya,and... The 250 mil will probably go into studies..Ol Larry sure looks excited about the plan.
Sounds more like ideas then anything. A plan is a detailed outline or blue print of how to acheive something. I wonder if they actually have the "blue prints" to carry out these ideas or are they just pitching ideas at us so we will vote for them? With the current market conditions all this election will do is mask and divert you away from the real problems that politics cant solve.
By the tracks, eh? He will probably get elected when the train shows up. Because it shore don't come here no mo'.
