Prince George, B.C.- Six companies have submitted bids for the construction management of the design and building of the new RCMP building.
Manager of Supply and Fleet Services, Scott Bone, says the bids are from:
- Yellowhead Construction
- Septra (which was the project/construction manager for the 2010 speedskating oval in Richmond)
-
Scott Construction Group
-
IDL of Prince George,
-
Graham Construction and Engineering
-
Stuart Olson
“All of these companies are major players” says Bone, who says the successful bidder will work with City Hall to develop the final plan for the RCMP building “Once we get to a point of saying o.k. this is the best design , then it will go to tender for the construction”. That tender is expected to be issued in February or March of next year. it is expected to take two years to complete construction.
In the meantime, Bone says he is working on the demolition contract that will go to tender soon, as there is work that can be done to prepare the site for the next phase. Some of the materials used in the new building will be recycled from the existing building at Victoria and 4th Avenue.
