High Winds Help Knock Out Power

Prince George, B.C. - The high winds are being blamed for several power outages throughout Prince George and in other communities in the region. Tree branches have downed some lines, and there are some reports of lines on the ground. B.C. Hydro reminds you that downed lines should always be considered "live" and you should stay clear of them.
Environment Canada says a wind warning remains in effect, although the wind is expected to ease this evening. The wind is associated with a strong frontal system tht is moving through the central interior today with south winds of 70 gusting to 90 km/h expected over the Prince George region. Winds will also be strong through the remainder of the central interior but should remain below warning criteria at 60 gusting to 80 km/h. Winds will ease tonight as the system moves through the region.
