Refueling services are expected to be restored in the next few weeks. The Village of McBride and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George will provide updates as they become available.

Prince George, B.C. -  The Regional District of Fraser Fort George is issuing an advisory to remind anyone travelling along highway 16 east  from Prince George to  the Alberta border the normal refuelling stop in McBride  won't be there as of the 27th , if not sooner.

The Chevron station is closing and the Husky station is undergoing a management change. Current fuel supply is limited and may run out prior to October 27.

The options are:

The Dunster General Store, which has one gas pump available with regular unleaded fuel only. The store is open from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday to Saturday, and Sunday from 10:00am – 2:00 pm. Dunster is located about 30 km east of McBride, and is 5km off Highway.

The next station is Valemount which is 85 km southeast of McBride, or Jasper which is 166 km east  of McBride.

Should boycot all Chevron stations where they remain open. Shutting down their pantrys and stations in the small towns in our area sure doesn't help the people who live in towns like Ft St James, MacKenzie, McBride and so on.
Hmmm... there is a Vhoof Coop cardlock on the edge of Mcbride.... of course you need a Coop card, but most wise travellers have one of those. :-)

You also got to feel sorry for those operators. The fuel that they sell, barely covers the cost of operating the equipment. The only place that they make money is in selling what is in the stores, of which they typically have to buy off the gas station, thus there is very little margin. Plus they have to pay rent.

Then the BC government(WCB) brings in the law that pay before pump. The customers are pissed off now, so they are only going to buy gas. or pay at the pump and leave.

The other rule is the two person rule, or pass thru windows. Reallistically the two person rule, cost the operators too much so they have to install a pass thru window. So unless your really desperate, your not buying stuff thru the windows.

Who do you have to blame, Blame Worksafe BC for not coming up with better rules. This rule will kill off gas stations.

Very good point. I for one don't buy gas at any gas station that doesn't have Pay at the Pump. I refuse to stand in line twice to buy gas.

Under the old rules, I might have gone into the store, paid for gas and bought a bag of chips or something. But no more...
Until the diesel shortage started about 3 weeks ago, we hadn't stepped foot in a actual gas station for well over a year. The only reason we did recently is our card lock ran out. My husband forgot that you had to even pre-pay cause we have never ever had to before. Whats the point of standing in line twice or guessing how much fuel you need.
