Mcleod Named To NHL Watch List

Prince George - The Prince George Spruce Kings Hockey Club of the B.C.H.L. is extremely pleased to announce that defenseman Wes McLeod has been named to N.H.L Central Scouting’s initial Watch List for the 2009 entry draft.

 

McLeod, along with forward Zac Ashdown of the Nanaimo Clippers and forward Curtis McKenzie of the Penticton Vees are listed as “B” list prospects, likely to be 3rd to 5th round selections.  Four other B.C.H.L players are listed as “C” list prospects and are likely to be late round selections.

 

McLeod, a native of Kamloops, is in his second season with the Spruce Kings and is enjoying a stellar season on defense.  To date this season he has 1 goal and10 assists for 11 points to go along with 24 penalty minutes in 16 games.  He has helped anchor the Kings blue line and logs a lot of ice time at both even strength and on special teams.

 

“It’s definitely an honour to be recognized by Central Scouting, however it is early in the year and my main focus is to help the Spruce Kings achieve success” stated McLeod.  “Every player would love to be drafted into the N.H.L, it’s what you work so hard for, but right now I’m looking forward to rest of the season and I’ll worry about the draft when the time comes”.
