October Milder Than Normal
Monday, November 03, 2008 09:24 AM
Prince George, B.C.- October will go on the books as milder than normal. That's the bottom in the report from Jim Steele of Environment Canada. Here is his full report:
The month got off to a very warm start with an afternoon reading into the mid twenties on the 1st along with the warmest reading for the whole month. Conditions cooled after the first week with temperatures remaining near normal for the remainder of the month. The last week of the month saw temperatures dip to their lowest levels, no where near record values but a chilly -8.5 degree start on the 26th provided a reminder that winter is knocking at the door.
Precipitation was on and off again during the month however days with measurable precipitation remained below the 30 year normal. A very damp period between the 4th and 7th brought 26 mm over the 4 day period, almost half the monthly total amount. On the other side, there was only a trace of snow recorded on two separate days during the month, a bit unusual with typically just over 8 cm recoded during the month.
In the books, October will be recorded as slightly milder than normal month with precipitation just about right on the money.
