Prince George, B.C. – Unemployment stats are out, and in Prince George, down.
The rate had been 8.2%, but last month it slipped to 6.9. Don’t get too excited though as the latest rate is still 1.4% higher than it had been at the same time last year (5.5%)
Provincially, the rate went up half a percentage point. It had been 4.6% and has move up to 5.1
Nationally, there was virtually no change as the rate went up 0.1% to 6.2%

The rate dropped in PG and increased in the rest of the province. Does that tell us the unemployed are leaving town and increasing the rate for the rest of the province.I guess they just couldnt waite for the new council to improve the economy in the city.

Cheers
It is anyone's guess what it means, other than that we know some people reported they are unemployed and others reported they are employed.

How many are actually unemployed and how many are actaully employed, is anyone's guess.

How many unemployed left town, and how many unemployed who came to town, we also do not know.

One thing is for sure, with towns around us with mills shut down, some will be trying their luck close to home. We are likely also recipients of unemployed.

I wonder how those in Mackenzie who are unemployed and looking for work in PG while still living in Mackenzie are recorded.
