Prince George, B.C.- “I’m eager to get to work with the new group, there’s new blood and fresh ideas” says Mayor Elect Dan Rogers.
Speaking on the Meisner program this morning on CFISFM, Rogers says he is humbled by the level of support from the community.
He says he will be meeting later this morning with Senior administration for briefings on major projects. One of the projects will be the plan to deal with the flooding of the Nechako River.  He is hoping he will be getting an update on the planned repairs for Cottonwood Island Park “As you know, as head of the Trails Task force, one of my priorities has been reconnecting to the Rivers.”
While there are numerous issues which he says need to be addressed, he says there is an energy about making something happen in the downtown “There is a willingness to be involved in that change” says Rogers.
It was incumbent Brian Skakun who scored the highest marks over all  in the Council race.   He  captured 9650 votes on Saturday yet his campaigning was mild compared to others.  Speaking on the Meisner program he says he spent the last three years, really listening to people "You know, there were some people who  said to me,  they don't always  agree with what I've said, but they gave me points for speaking up."  Skakun says the  four new councillors will find out very quickly that there are many more issues to be dealt with in the course of doing the City's business.  "We will have our first meeting  in mid December with a full agenda,  and I think the new Councillors will be ready for it."

Congratulations to both of PG's most popular people! Now do yourselves a big favor and don't read the endless comments that will, no doubt, come at the foot of articles such as this.

Well, I don't know why but I did vote for one of those two. I also have a small business, so I think Brian is right about listening. The other fellow, well he doesn't listen.

I'm hopeful the new council will probably be OK, as long as they aren't in a tie about anything, which then gives Dan a chance to vote.

Nice attitude Yama! Now log off and concern yourself with your business as nobody needs your negative comments!
I want to congratulate Dan and Brian both. I am sure they will do their best in the next three years. Please live up to the promise that the PAC will go to referendum. We do not need anything that expensive at this time, considering one of the largest arts groups, Theatre Northwest, does not want anything to do with it.
I believe it's more important to stand out than fit in. Brian Skakun has been effective in speaking his mind, even if it may be different than all of the other council members. I give him credit for standing for what he believes in.

Although I didn't vote for Dan, I believe he has a lot of support and is respected by those who know him. I will encourage him with my input over the next three years. Leaders need our support and direction. It is a very difficult position to set yourself up as a target for criticism and judgement. I commend everyone for allowing their names to stand to serve us in this very important role. Congratulations
Suck it up Yama. The people have spoken and this IS a democracy. Give him a chance. How about giving us the name of your business so we can all critize it.
When you start creating jobs we will have something in common, Oldun.
You only ASSume that I don't Yama.
