More Beetle talk at University
Thursday, November 10, 2005 03:35 AM
UNBC is centre stage today for several presentations on the mountain pine beetle.
This is the second day of a two day forum examining the community and forest management effects of the infestation.
Today, there will be 8 presentations on the forest level effects, including the impacts on future timber supply and outdoor recreation.
The sessions are intended to link researchers with community advocates and forest managers to identify what we know and what we still need to learn about the effects of the pine beetle on forests, the economy and communities.

Why? because too many communities are getting money with little understanding of how they can effectively use it.
Might be worth getting a little research going of how much money there is, where it is going, what is being done with it to battle the socio-economic effects of the infestation and what the likelyhood of the money making a real difference is.
This can be a good source of many PhD Theses, and most certainly these may be well funded themselves.
