Prince George, B.C. –   The bidding has begun at the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation Festival of Trees and it continues to be a great success.

David Wharrie, Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation, Executive Director is very happy with the response this year, “It is going great, the extra days we have opened this year have been a great success. We have more school tours coming through so it is really nice to see the kids here who may not necessarily get to enjoy the tour if it was not organized through schools.”

The Friday night Gala Auction started out the bidding and sold a few of the trees which have already helped raise a generous amount for the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation. The All North Consultants display (photo top) which featured wicker patio furniture, a bbq, fire pit and many other presents under the tree sold for $17,000.

The traditional Tim Hortons Tree sculpted to look like a tea pot this year (photo at right) has been sold for a "Steeped" $6000.00.

The Telus Technology Tantalizes Tree featuring items such as a laptop and big screen television sold for $9000.00

The Sportsman Wonderland (photo at left) sponsored by PG Firefighters Local 1372 sold for $3500.00.

The other trees are well on their way to being sold as the community enters a silent auction bidding war for their favourite tree and the opportunity to make a donation.

With four days left in the festival, there is still time to take part in many of the events (see previous story for schedule ) and bid on trees, gingerbread houses (and gingerbread men like Mr. P.G.! ) and wreaths.

The festival officially closes Sunday at 4:30pm

Nice to see these high bids coming in, but it sure leave me out of the action...just a tad rich for my wallet...so thanks to the corporations and businesses, and rich people that are participating here. For a good cause I think...
There are wreaths and stocking that have yet to have a bid on them BCRacer - ten bucks would still let you help a good cause. If you thought you could go down and get a big screen tv for $10 then you really have no idea what this event is all about. Why not go down to Visions and call anybody that comes out with a new tv "RICH"
Kudos to all of the volunteers and companies donating to this event that gets better every year.
