The BC Rail corruption trial gets more and more bizarre as new information is released. It now seems that the Special Prosecutor, Berardino, may have a conflict that has just come to light.

See http://www.billtieleman.blogspot.com/
Here's to hoping Worthington Industry's neutralization plan for the chemicals at their Mackenzie pulp mill works! And that they actually plan on re-opening the mill...
Do Conservatives not read history? In 1929, Governments responded to fiscal crisis by shutting down spending and trying to avoid deficit spending. Close to 80 years later Harper is repeating history with his new budget, and adding an idiotic spin - selling off Crown assets into a depressed market.
I sincerely hope on Monday that the 63% of Canadians that did not vote for the Tories will get a new government that will represent them. And that Harper might join Joe Clark and Kim Campbell as political freaks of nature.
What crown assets are being sold?
Herbster? And of course they don't pay attention to what happened in the past; they always have to approach each issue as if it is brand new, and put their own brand/spin on the situation (I mean any government, not just the conservatives)
metalman.
the Canadian auto sector is in trouble..

Union autoworkers ie...GM FORD
$78.00 per hour

Non Union plants ie...Toyota Honda
$48.00 per hour

CAN ANYONE SEE THE PROBLEM?????
The government is still spending huge amounts of money. All they want to do is cut back on the non-essential spending. One mention of cutbacks anywhere and everyone is up in arms. Isn't it time we used this opportunity to actually question and justify all of the money that flows through government coffers? We voted them in, so let them do their job. That includes everyone, not just the Conservatives. My recommendation is to suggest they all get back to work.
Even at $48 an hour, to assemble car pieces is dramatically out of touch with what skills are needed to perform the job.

In todays Citizen there is an article on Aboriginal choice schools. Who realy wants these schools ?? Do the students ?? By the sounds of the article they already have decided they want Ron Brent School. They sound like a bunch of bullies, these people in charge of this project,"Everybody's voices are welcome but the decision will be made by the parents and extended family of the kids enrolled in the schools", says aboriginal education principal . What about the TAX PAYERS in the area do we not get a choice ? The meeting at Ron Brent on Monday Dec. 1st at 5 to 8 pm is supposedly an open meeting but only the parents of students in the school were notified about it. This decision effects every home owner in the area. Who will pay for this? It seems to me that this is Segregation. Isn't this what everyone wanted to do away with?
wavoes, were did you get this information, can you back it up. Why pick on just the workers. what about the CEO's and there buckets of pay freebies and benefits.

Everyone always says the government spends to much money. So whats the first program you want eliminated, and why that one?

Its lack of government oversite that got us into this mess.

HEATHER PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL - BULLYING
_______________________________________

The bus is delayed after school in the bus lane for at the back of the bus a boy decides to slam his own head into the glass window at least ten times.....he just wants the bullying to stop.

A girl comes home crying, her exfriend decides she isn't cool enough to hang out with anymore (no cell phone and other cool things). The girl stands up for herself as she's had enough....in return she gets lies spread about her and sworn at.

A boy down the road every day to and from school bullies kids but he's been bullied for years. I tell him things will get better and if he was ok. He answers, "No."

Those are just a few I know about. I guess it happens a lot to a lot of kids.
Maybe middle school wasn't such a great idea? The age gap might be a bit too much for most kids to handle??
The federal government is considering the sale of some Crown assets as a way of balancing its budget and avoiding a deficit, Canada's finance minister said Thursday.

Speaking with reporters during the Conservative party's policy convention in Winnipeg, Jim Flaherty wasn't specific about which assets might be put up for grabs.

"We are going to review the corporate assets, the capital assets of the government of Canada to see whether they still perform a useful function for the Canadian people," Flaherty said.

"And if that review shows there are some assets that should be sold, then we'll go ahead with it."

The finance minister said many Canadians would be surprised to know that Toronto's CN Tower was an asset of the Canadian government.

Canada is already reviewing some of its assets, including Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, which makes the Candu reactor.

Public Works Minister Christian Paradis, however, cautioned that the review of assets is only in the preliminary stages.
I see the RCMP attended to the "problem" in the building on Quebec Street that was reported on this site last Friday. Now they need to shut down the crack camper that has been operating out of the parking lot at Queensway and 2nd for the last 6 months. People (lots) have been coming and going from this truck camper and it is quite clear what they are up to. Shut him down-tow his truck.
"Everyone always says the government spends to much money. So whats the first program you want eliminated, and why that one?"

The Ministry of Information or as it's commonly known, the CBC. The idea that even a fraction of a penny of my tax dollars makes it into the pockets of Don Cherry, Rick Mercer, Eata Bigmeal or any of these other idiots is sickening.
Wasn't it last week or the week before we had a day to reflect on bullying.It makes me so angry that at a time when the entire world is in such a crises that the leader of our country CANADA would stoop so low and play party politics just to achieve his agenda.This is the time for all MP's to work together as Canadians and try to get us through this mess.When we can see some light at the end of the tunnel then by all means go back to playing your games,but for now please show the Canadian public and the rest of the world some LEADERSHIP.We are all watching.
Last Friday I drove home from Fraser Lake. Heavy snowfall. The roads were atrocious, with wet and heavy accumulation from Smithers to Kitimat. Several cars spotted in ditch, no surprised as some idiots passed me while I was tempting my fait at 80-90 KPH. However, it appeared that this accumulation was many hours worth, not just a few, and I NEVER saw a plow anywhere in a 200 KM span. Absolutely ridiculous attempt or lack thereof by our contractors. What is the official agenda for the north? Mandate a snow tire law and stop highways maintenance expenditures, the contractors save on fuel and get their bonus too. Utter BS!!
fait? Fate :0
fait? Fate :0
bitter - You will probably never know how true a statement you made when you labeled the people in charge as a 'bunch of bullies'. It isn't true for all but it certainly is for a few - first hand experience on this one.

...and IT IS a done deal! There were a handful of schools that were labeled as possible sights for the aboriginal choice school but you don't need a university degree to figure out that if given the choice, the choice will be the best building in the best location. Harwin School should be demolished and Carney Hill - - look at the location!

This will get pushed through regardless of what the parents and neighborhood say or do. The 'welcome voices' will fall on deaf ears and the tax payers will buck even more for the money pit that is about to begin!

'Special Funding' is the key ingredient to making this project work. Today - I will be slapped around for my comments but five years from now - take a look at the books and compare the funds that will go through this choice school verses any school of equivelant enrollment in PG.
Think its tough finding a job now? Just wait until the Conservatives pass their new immigration bill.

The Conservative government is set to announce details Friday of its hotly debated reforms to Canada's immigration system.

The plan would fast-track immigration papers for workers in 38 high-demand occupations like health, skilled trades, finance, and resource extraction.

The Tories say their 2009 immigration targets — between 240,000 and 265,000 new permanent residents — will be roughly the same as this year.

But they say the reforms will seriously reduce wait times for the processing of coveted workers to between six and 12 months from the current five to six years.

That's what I always thought. Imagine being in Grade 8 and being in with a bunch finishing Grade 12. It is too much of a social gap and it is wrong.
like to know where the $48 and $78 numbers come from. I always thought that the highest paid workers were in the tar sands and they are in the low $40 bracket.
Are any of you aware that some pooh bah in the CBC spent $80,000 on LUNCHES in the past year?
Some serious trimming is essential.
those numbers include benefits, wages, pension libalities, long term health care obligations.
Thanks for the answer on sale of assets, Herbster. Now, to this new immigration thing; I for one am not convinced that bringing supposedly skilled people in from other countries is THE solution. It MAY be A solution, but who is checking into the actual skills these people have, and how those skills compare to what we need here, and in other parts of Canada? I know from experience that 'skilled' people, in our case from England and Germany, were not trained to do the type of work that we do, they performed similar tasks in their homeland, and were certainly qualified in those tasks, but in both cases the work, the techniques, methods, and even the tools are different. The point is, if you end up (re-) training an immigrant to do the job that you need him or her to do, then why not train a person who already lives here? I can tell you that there is no shortage of people out of work, their number are growing every day. Is the government a day late and a dollar short in pushing ahead with increasing immigration and lowering the bar for admittance Oops I mean "making it easier to immigrate"? With the "economic downturn" that has taken us by surprise (tongue in cheek here) and the resultant increase in unemployment, do we really need to bring more people into Canada at this time? Enquiring minds need to know!
metalman.
heidi1555, We can't expect bullying in schools to stop when parents are encouraged by their bullying in the workplace in order to acheive what they want. It is rampant in union protected workplaces; bullies are rewarded because they are protected, despite what the company "line" is. These morals are passed on to the children. What do we expect?
So long Stephen Harper!By monday night we may finally be rid of this guy! HOORAY!
After looking at the web site Gus gave I wonder if wavoes information is because the CEO's & their jets are tagged onto the wages
There is a new city bylaw re: parking on residential streets (copy & pasted below)

NO PARKING AT ALL....7 days a week....from 8am - 6pm. Penalty? Possible $50 fine AND you may be TOWED.

For all of you who have double driveways and garages....no problem.
For those of us who have small houses/lots, with a single driveway & no garage (and there are many of us)......this will be an impossibility. If there is only room in the driveway for 2 vehicles....but there are 3 vehicles in the household....where exactly does that vehicle go? Where does a "guest" park during the day? This is absurd!!!!
So....you come home from work Mon-Fri (for example) at 5pm....and park where??? I guess you just don't come home until after 6pm every night!!!!!! And Sat & Sun....you leave your car WHERE? during the day???

I can't possibly be the only one to see how ridiculous this is! Please everyone....call City Hall!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Copied from the city website:
Snow Removal Parking Restrictions
In order to remove snow and ice from our streets as quickly as possible, it is necessary to prohibit parking on streets during certain times so that City crews can perform their duties efficiently. Parking is prohibited on residential streets from 8am until 6pm seven days a week from October 15 to April 15. Vehicles may be fined $50.00 and could be towed. Overnight parking is only allowed on the odd side of the street, unless posted otherwise posted."
During the winter months, I can see how cars parked on the street can be a problem. I think it's an issue of safety and also liability since the plows could damage a vehicle parked on the street with the snow / rocks / gravel they are trying to move. These guys have to plow the street, back up, move forward, navigate all over the place, so I really can see how this bylaw came about. In one of the neighborhoods I lived in there was a household who had one resident who had to park their car on the street. The plow would go around him. This person would then have to dig himself out and where did the snow end up? Back in the middle of the street and in front of my driveway. I can also see how it would be difficult for those who dont' have room to park in their driveway, but I think that during these hours, if your street hasn't been plowed, keep an eye and ear open for them and move your car.
I agree bitter,it IS segregation...and this has been in the works for quite a while.
"Aboriginal choice schools"...I am pretty sure we had these once before, except they were called residential schools back then!
And look where that went!
We will be paying for that screw up for many years to come!
Once again,we are telling native people that "you are different" and we will do things differently just for you here in Canada!
What is wrong with the conventional school system?
Is it not suitable for first nations kids?
Do they learn differently than non-native kids and require a different eduactional standard?
So would the native school have a BETTER educational format,or would it simply be an EASIER system to accomodate first nation kids?
Will an aboriginal choice school make it easier for them to get jobs later on down the road?
Or is that not a consideration?
What will they teach that is so different from conventional schools here in B.C.?
OR..are first nations kids having trouble learning because they are being made to feel different from the other kids by those who keep dreaming this kind of thing up?
Do these kids WANT to be treated as different, or do they just want to be kids and not subjected to the politics of their elders?
Oh...and who gets to pay for all this?
Never mind,I already know the answer to that one!
-I like the American-Canadian border, 'cause if you're walking on the border with a friend, and you push your friend into Canada, he can't push you back right away, 'cause first he has to go through customs. "What brings you to Canada?":[Points to the side] "That assh&*e." "When are you leaving?" "As soon as I regain my equilibrium!"
-I got a king sized bed. I don't know any kings, but if one came over, I guess he'd be comfortable. "Oh, you're a king, you say? Well you won't believe what I have in store for you! It's to your exact specifications!"
shamrock girl, Hey girl you answered your own question in your last paragraph. And I feel really sorry for those who have three vehicles to park at their residence. My advice is sell one and take the bus.
We happen to have a double driveway and could actualy park four vehicles in it on snowy nights. It is thoughtless of those who park on the street at night . It screws up the entire snow ploughing operation. Put brain in gear and abide by the bylaws.
Cheers
I have a queen size bed and I'm waiting for a queen.
Cheers
Yeah, ride the damn bus, whadda ya thinking!!!?????? Be considerate & get a bigger driveway. j/k :-)>
My brothers a bit of a queen....
The feds should just start cutting at
the special interest groups.
No more different handling us, humans.
Every body gets the same treatment
finanacially, does not matter what skin color, no more billions for
aboriginal issues until we are out
of the red and never start spending
on fields like these.
All of us have to tighten the belt.
Give help only to the sick and elderly.
Would have plenty of dollars left for
healthcare and education.
Despite the "money dumping" to special
groups over decades, things did not improved, rather the aboriginals needs
more and more money, land, etc.
If so far they did not straightened out
they never will.
The country is bankrupt, how long the
government wants us, the working ones
to carry the increasing cost of giving
money away ?
Able bodies should work, then the living expences will be less. Less taxes to be
deducted from our wages if we do not
spend billions on those, whom can not
handle money and just racing to spend
all available funds this year, that the
following year they can apply for more.
Government should stop buying votes!
Then we will have the real election.
Harper and his group knows this.
They just want to eliminate the oppositions, this way they still get
fund from the international conservatives,
so they stay in "business" and live well
on our hard earn dollars.
Traditional Program? Wow! They brout back the old program my generashun went thru? At leest some people will lurn how to reed and right.
I see the local Subaru dealer is suggesting that the media should not write bad news stories.
I guess us saps shouldn’t be told what is going on, good and bad in the economy, and around town.
He says his business is up 23% over last year, well the good news for him is that people are shy about ford, Chevy and Chrysler so they are looking at Subaru. It is of course bad news for General Motors dealers. So you people should print only what the local Subaru dealer says is good news. We all should go around with a paper bag over our heads.
Oh by the way I see after the local paper gave him a plug that he showed up in the advertising section with a big advertisement, funny how that works.
huh?
Excellent set of posts, qwaszxter. You could not have said it better. And as for the teacher who marks by a student's last name, report her. No one in the educational system wants to hear some teacher make such a moronic comment. Teachers want all kids to succeed-comments like hers have no place in our schools (or anywhere else for that matter).
Qwaszxter. Why do we have to rob peter to pay paul? On the residential schools , all we hear about is the sad stories we never hear about the good stories. I know a lady that got her education at Lejac school and went on to manage a dept. at Woodwords. The Nuns taught her to cook and sew. When I was a child l loved watching the Lejac band in our parade and my husband delivered groceries to Lejac school one day a week for 3 years. He said the children were running around playing and having a good time like all other children. Every basket has a rotten apple ,its just to bad we all have to pay the price.
Merry Christmas Everybody!
(or whatever season you celebrate)
Bridge....dear....I am very happy for you that you are fortunate enough to have a big driveway for 4 cars...and do not NEED to park on the street. Unfortunately you seem to have no compassion for those who are in a less fortunate position. You are likely one of only 2 people (probably retired)....using your big driveway. Lucky you. It won't affect you or inconvenience you in any way. Those of us with larger families...with room in the driveway for only 2 vehicles and no garage...these are the people I am speaking to. You have no idea what our circumstances might be....where/how far we have to go to for work...whether our workplaces are all on a bus route...so stop being so judgmental when you don't know people's individual circumstances. This is NOT a black & white world.
If people have room in their driveways...and yet they CHOOSE to park on the street....that's one thing. They should be fined or towed...because they are inconsiderate and deliberately impeding the ability of the snowplows to do their thing. But if there isn't room in the driveway...they don't have a choice. Sell a vehicle???? What a ridiculous thing to say.
tuatkaan
"If so far they did not straightened out
they never will."
My goodness how would you like to have been taken from your home at age 6, not allowed to see your folks and not allowed to talk your language?
My goodness, it is not a case of First Nations' people getting straightened out it is a case of white folks educating themselves as to what actually happened to these children.
They came out of those schools with no parenting skills because they lost their parents and you want them "straightened out" in one generation? C'est impossible.
Quaszxter, you need to give your head a shake. And who cares if you are white and your kids are indian? or if you are indian and your kids are white? You see, I believe that the average, law abiding, taxpaying Canadian citizen of any race or creed feels more or less the same as I do; that we should ALL pull our own weight, and never mind the colour of your skin. NO ONE person should think they are special, or be treated special, and that includes so called celebrities and politicians. We are all essentially equal in my eyes (although some folks do seem kinda dumb) Forget the past, focus on the future, let's stop this growth industry of people who believe they are owed a living, they always have their hands out for more, and the politicians, in fear for their votes I guess, seem to cave in.
I see so many young people (not all) that do not want to do anything with their lives, and they can easily get away with that, we are far too liberal with welfare, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, I think we have trained several generations to be dairy operators, the ways there are to milk the system continually amaze me. ONE COUNTRY, ONE LAW, ONE PEOPLE.
tuaatkan, I agree with you.
Gus, I cudnta sed it better myeself.
metalman.
You tell'em, shamrock girl.....
To write Auschwitz and your Schools in the same Line is just wrong wrong wrong!
Shamrock girl, get over it!!
I want my street cleaned of snow, end of story. Move your damn car!! You must be from Vancouver! You ever see how they plow snow in Vancouver? That is a joke!
It pisses me off, when I drive down a street, and there is a snowbank about 10 feet from the curb, because some inconsiderate SOB, wouldn't move there car on plowing day!!
That is why, there is this winter bylaw, for people like you, who have no common sense!
Return to raining weather shamrock, you deserve it!
and one more thing shamrock,
if you live in a small house, on a small lot, and you have 3 vehicles in your household, I think, bylaw services, should pay you a visit, because I think you have a problem of overcrowding this little house on the.............!!
common sense, isn't that common anymore, is it shamrock???
Thank you Rattlesnake!
Taxinapothole..........I do move my "damn car" if it needs to be moved! So you have no right to accuse me of anything. I agree that "inconsiderate sob's" should move their vehicle if/when they see the plow coming! However you are missing the point!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there are 3 vehicles and only 2 cars fit in the driveway...Where do you suggest people put the other vehicle ALL DAY on SAT & SUN????? That is the point! I'm not the one lacking the common sense here.........
I was not attacking anyone...just posing a legitimate question! It's really sad that you feel the need to "attack". And sorry....I'm not going anywhere. xo
In 2010, I have full intentions of opening a school for British kids only, and I might add, they have to be white! Our school, will not accept Germans, Italians, East Indians, Chinese, Russians, Polish, Ukrainian, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, French, Flemish, Spanish, Islamic people, Turks, Greeks, Austrians, Australians, New Zealand or any other race in the world, that I may not have mentioned! Oh, and definitely NO Native Canadians!!
How do you like it so far. It will never be allowed, and you know it. My point, why not??? The natives can be special, why can't my fellow Brits, have a special place in Canada's education system!! We too, feel we are different, and need special treatment!! Are you up for that??
It is all crap, total crap.
One country, one people, one tax, and everybody gets a JOB. NO handouts! Get a job, pay frickin Tax! If you don't want to work, you better learn how to hunt, fish, and grow a garden!! Oh, I forgot, you will need to buy bullets for you gun! Hell, you will have to buy a gun, better get a job, so you can pay for it!
Don't ever loose your heritage, but don't ever shove you heritage down my throat, because I have my own, and I don't shove my heritage down your throat!!
I'm sorry I don't have lots of money and live in a house with a double drive & garage!
I wish I did. But I'm a single Mother, with 2 kids, who takes in a university student in my "small house, on a small lot" in order to survive financially (and help out a student at the same time). So...ya...that's me!!!! Inconsiderate, no common sense....I should really be ashamed of myself!!!
Thank you so much for setting me straight.
move your damn cars on plow day, how difficult is that????
and one more thing.....the "thanks"
goes specifically to taxinapothole.......
I do....DUH!!!! that's not the point!!!!
A further comment on the Aboriginal children learning about their culture. Certainly they should know about their Heritage. But if one reads the history books taken from the journals of early day Explorors such as the accounts of the Barkleys on the explorations of the west coast, the White Slaves of Chief Maquinna and the accounts taken from the Journals of Samual Hearn in his search for a passage through the Artic in the 1700's one finds that the Tribes either could not or would not tolerate another Tribe and attacked one another slaughtering men, women and children just because the were from a different Tribe. I hope this is not the Culture that these children will be exposed to.
yeah, that is the point! Bylaws are there for a purpose! And shamrock, I call BS. you said quote " those of us with larger family's"
So what is it shamrock??? Single mom with 2 kids, and a student, or a large family with multiple vehicles!!
Gotcha!! Just want to be heard eh???
Single mom...2 kids & a live-in student. My vehicle, my student son's vehicle (who also does shift work as well as school)...and the room & board student's vehicle! 4 people in a 960 sq ft house...is a lot of people in one house. That's large to me...for this space. Don't be so petty!!!
Tell me this.... If a household has 3 vehicles and the driveway can only hold 2 vehicles.....and you are NOT ALLOWED to park on the street AT ALL during the day...even on weekends (when all 3 vehicles could easily be there)....where do you park the 3rd vehicle? THAT....is the question. Instead of attacking me for asking a legitimate question...why don't you answer it? And I mean....seriously, thoughtfully, logically. Be helpful rather than condescending............ Try it...you might like it.
taxinapothole said, "In 2010, I have full intentions of opening a school for British kids only, ..."
I say go for it, however because I'm a nice guy I'll tell you, you will be broke within a month. However they may be a very small minority but they have not been oppressed like so many other minorities in BC.
You say, 'What we have here is "One country, one people, one tax, and everybody gets a JOB. NO handouts! " ' That is not the case. The rich are able to evade taxes much better than the poor. They hire tax consultants who help them hide what they have to pay. The gov't helps them do this with very generous loopholes.
You say. "Don't ever loose your heritage, but don't ever shove you heritage down my throat, because I have my own, and I don't shove my heritage down your throat!!" But when a people try to do this, you try to shoot them down. It's time you realized those times are over and you should begin to live with them.
Right on "jim A" re: the Subaru dealer.... It is curious.......
Hey Metalman.....where are you? Your honourary "Sis" could use a little help here! lol
(I realized you meant Ben with your "Bro" reference...AFTER I posted the comment!)
exactly astro, "live with them". Another problem, people need to learn how to read the whole story!!
No special privileges for any race!! My previous post, was meant to open up some eyes, as to how unfair our system is. What is good for you, should be good for me!! Do you not agree astro!!
This is not about race, this about some special interest group, starting the segregation process all over again. It is so wrong. I will say it again, "one country, one people, one tax, and I will add, one school system!!
These are everybody's tax dollars, not a minority. Although, I would like to say, that the tax payers are becoming a minority! How much longer, are we going to pay for the wrong doings of natives, 200 plus years ago! It has to end, and it has to end soon!
I see all kinds of different cultures in my TAXI. I hear all kinds of comments. I can't tell you on here what the majority thinks, but if I ever could, you would be very surprised!! I will say, that my way of thinking, is not that uncommon!!
qwaszxter, here are my own thoughts on your question: "Why do you see a school that has mainly native kids, teaching with more of a native style as bad, when you have no problem with a school that has mainly white kids, and teaches in a mainly European style as good?"
Have you ever been to Europe? The educational style differs drastically from country to country. Before you can say a teaching style is european, you need to define what it means to be european, just as you need to define what it means to be first nations.
At John Oliver high school in Vancouver, most of the students are east indian or chinese. Are they getting a "mainly European" education, or are they simply getting an education? I'd say Indian and Chinese culture is far more insular and opposite to our own.
For a school to cater to all first nations and really work, it would need to unify all first nations under one banner, or schools for specific tribes would have to be set up. Good luck with that.
The only thing which stopped first nations inter tribal warfare is the white man, who they united against in hate. Who says hate's a bad thing, eh?
With the absence of white people, it wouldn't take long before the old inter tribal fights resumed, just like in Africa. Once the evil white man high tailed it out of there, all the different tribes were free to resume slaughtering each other, and by golly they are. Old hatreds die hard.
If first nations need special schools with culturally sensitive teaching styles and curriculum which suit their needs, I'm all for it, but we should extend the same privilege to every other culture who feel they need something special.
qwaszxter, you live in Vanderhoof I live in the Connaught Miller area ,what makes you think Ron Brent School has mainly native students? Really who cares? my point is that this is our neighbourhood school and we do not want to lose it. The Saikuz reserve out side of Vanderhoof opened a Elementary school on their reserve several years ago, it closed due to lack of enrolment. If parents have to pull their children out of Ron Brent or chose to after it changes, What happens to the school? What if the same thing happens as what happened on the Saikuz reserve will they be bussing children in?? Maybe this is the game plan to close the school down and we all lose. This must be tearing the school apart.
There is someone I know who lives just off North Kelly road, and there is a dog that just lays in the road. The SPCA was called and they said that since it was outside city limits they could not do anything. WTF?! It is maybe 1 minute at most past city limits, and they dog probably will die either from cold or being hit. This is unacceptable, they are refusing to rescue an animal that is endangered. This needs to be dealt with! and yes, I do know how full the spca is, but that is due to people not planning....
qwaszxter,
I did answer you, you just struggle with reading everything that is written!! Actually, I think, it is that you have trouble with comprehension, with what you have read. Maybe, an all "teach me how to read and comprehend school" would be the answer for you!
I am very sorry, Lamb for the past, but
money will not fix it despite there
was a lot spend on it and there were also
apologies. We live in a very different
time now.
A lot of different origin humans or aboriginals were abused, tortured and killed in different area of the globe
and it still happening now days.
The Nort American Natives are not abused
anymore.
The Japanese abused the Chinese,
the Turks still abusing the Kurds and
Armenians, the Romanians abused all
the different national people who ended
up living in Romania after the "re"maping of the countries in Europe, and so I could go on.
All the different origins would have the same right as the native americans for conpensation. The world just can not
turn backwords, we have to look forward
and work hard for, that our children
get along and live well, we have to leave
them, I mean to all the different race
children, a legacy where they do not
live of each other, they work together
for their future and their children's
future.
We will not leave for the next generation and the following ones any good with the currently established "compensations".
Get real, and live as a good example to
show to our children how to work for
living and then they will truly apreciate
the value of money.
That is the only way to out of this
"one way alley".
thank you Nejeb, that is exactly what I was trying to say! Unfortunately, I am not very diplomatic sometimes!!
Thanks again,
Everyone, have a great weekend,
and as for you Shamrock Girl, have a wonderful day, enjoy your weekend!! If you ever need someone to shovel your driveway............well, hell, you never know....lol
Laugh at little, OK
and by the way everybody, I attended Ron Brent's class, when it was Connuaght Elementry. Ron Brent, was my grade 4 teacher!! He was the greatest teacher ever. That was away back when?? Let me think!!! When life was so simple, no TV's, party lines on the telephones! Saturday night entertainment???? Hockey Night in Canada, on the radio! Other weekend nights, a game of cards around the kitchen table! We had a close family value back then!! Did stuff together.
When was that??? 1960's
I am quite happy with the development of ideas that have been expressed wrt schooling and race. I heard some new ideas expressed and I hope you did as well.
I'm not sure that a totally 1st Nations school is the answer for 1st nations students. It would not be feasible for all 1st Nations students could attend. And all schools should teach all students about 1st Nations issues, not just selected schools.
This idea may bring up the feasibility of rich or religious private schools being publicly funded and maybe next Friday we'll discuss that issue.
In any event we must remember that the schools in BC, no matter if they are private or public, must teach the curriculum that is mandated by the provincial Ministry of Education. if you are concerned with what should be taught and when (i.e. what grade level) it should be taught, check the Ministry of Education's website or ask your childrens' teacher. Maybe next week we'll discuss this. Have a good weekend and thanks for your thoughts.
I am glad one of Ron Brents students remembers him. I hope we can keep his name on the school,if you remember the Christmas partys and the Fun nights you will remember me a volunteer MOM.
taxinapothole.....
that's the best "sort of offer" I've had in a long time.... (see? I have a sense of humour)
ty shamrock
Ron Brent, what a guy! Every summer, he would take a group of boys for a camping trip, to Lac La Hache. It was a reward, for outstanding performance over the year.
Not many boy's got to go, I think you had to be on the top 8. I was there, great experience. And you know what, Ron Brent paid for it! Never did a tax payer foot the bill for this excursion. Mr. Brent paid for it all!
That is when teachers, were teachers! Had nothing to do with a pay check
I think Shamrock makes a good argument and common sense should prevail. Why can't the loaders that clear the fronts of driveways... also at the same time clean up around parked cars in situations like Shamrocks?
Why someone would get all worked up about asking this question is hilarious.
Taxinapothole, was that a residential school you visited? It all sounds kind of special... lol. I'm sure you measured up well for outstanding performance. Maybe you could be an inspirational speaker at the new segregationist school? I bet you'd fit right in....
