Prince George, B.C.- Thousands of B.C Hydro Customers in the Prince George Region were without electricity this morning.

The Prince George problem was  caused when a "riser" connecting two lines burned out and contacted another line at Knell Road  and Highway 97 north around 6:30 this morning.   Traffic was re routed to take Foothills Boulevard and that resulted in a major back up from North Nechako Road to Highland Drive.Power was restored about three hours later.

There are also outages posted  from Prince Rupert to Smithers.
