Prince George, B.C.- The price of a litre of gas has dropped again and is sitting at 79.9 cents!  That's the price noted at Super Save gas on  Victoria Street. According to the  Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives,  Gas Gouge Meter, that is  2.6 cents BELOW the normal cost:

"Your gas prices are 2.6¢ per litre below the normalized cost of 82.6¢ per litre in Prince George

With today's crude oil price of $44.35 USD per barrel and the US dollar at $1.26 CAD, the price of regular unleaded gasoline in Prince George should be 82.6¢ per litre at normal profit margins."

This is great, but I'm still waiting for my grocery bill to drop as well.

Maybe I'll be waiting for a while.
Diesel is still over $1.00 and groceries come to us via trucks that burn diesel.
Why is the ubiquitous gas price headline always involve an exclamation point? It's really not that exciting! The same item runs a least once a week! 79.9 cents! Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!!

j/k (!)
The gas companies are still making a huge profit.....but now I suppose everyone will be going out to buy big gas guzzleing SUV's and trucks again.
What do they mean when they say gas should be 82.6 cents at normal profits?! When the oil companies are producing record profits is this the new standard that we are all to be held to! Crude costs have dropped to lows not seen for many years but the price of gas and especially diesel have not dropped the same way due to normal profits! Why are we being gouged and our governement and consumer watchdogs sit and watch?
The price of gas at Chevron in Hope was 78.5 on November 19th. Just about three weeks ago.

If it is 79.9 in PG it must be really low in Quesnel and Hope!
We may well be below the average now
but we were above it for so long
it is nice to have the advantage for a change.

Have you not realized the game yet.
It does not matter which entity we as consumers are dealing with, they all do the same game.
First raise prices exorbitantly for any or no reason, Waite for consumers to squawk or slow down consuming, the dribble the price back to where consumers are no longer complaining or actually start buying products again.
This happens with gas every spring and with consumer electronics every November.
Then when they advertise a seasonal sale, it appears that it is on sale when really consumers are still paying more for the products than just a few months ago.

contemporary consumers have been programmed to buy retail products since ww2.

Announced today... Opec getting ready to cut the taps way back!
They are not happy with the prices and neither are canadian/U.S.owned oil companies.
Oil sands companies are claiming they need 90 bucks a barrel minimum to break even?
Hey, I know...just put the price back up and force people to buy it at inflated prices!
Didn't we just see that?
And don't think it won't happen again very soon!
To hell with it...time to buy more oil stocks...I know where THIS is going!
Hmm looking around, i never did notice a drop in SU's and 1 tons around PG. The fact is ladies and gents, that the last run up of oil prices wa pure speculative inflation. People making big money gambling on this (and other ) essential commodities. There is still a lot of oil and gas out there folks. Want the price to stay down? Reduce and icrease your consumption (as much as possible) based on the going price.
I do look at one thing a little differentl though: consumers have been ABLE to buy retail products ( they don't really need) since WW2. No programming needed really...
Oil sands need 90 bucks just to break even? What a load of horsepucky eh? I read in a business mag a few years back that they would be estatic if the price topped 60 bucks per barrel.

If there was ever a time for a new source of energy its now!
I recall a time when we had to pay 1.45 a litre. I am glad those days are gone for now....this is a good news story. Nice to see that no one on here is complaining about it. (insert sarcasm)
I am gonna wanna drive down to the lower mainland next summer. Betcha gas goes up to $1.45 a litre again next May. Betcha!!
