Prince George, B.C. - If Opinion 250 readers were to vote in a Federal election tomorrow, there wouldn’t be any talk of a coalition government.
Readers  who took part in the Opinion Poll,  gave the Conservatives a landslide.
The final results are:
Conservatives 73.8% (1490)
Liberals 9.8% (165)   note, votes were made before Michael Ignatieff took over as leader
N.D.P. 11.4% (176)
Bloc Quebecois 1.1 % (17)
Green   3.9% (126)

Ignatieff is slightly more tolerable then Dion, but it wouldn't change my vote.
Can we possibly get a survey of how many opinion 250 readers drink coffee, tea, hot chocolate? That would be important information to have.
*hold hand up for coffee
Coffee For me! So far 50% for cofee. When it hits 75% the hot chocolate and tea drinkers can hold a coilition to over rule our coffee votes.
WOW...but seriously what opinion250 reader voted for the BLOC
Maybe there is enough time for Elections Canada to modify the ballots so that on one side we vote for our candidate of choice, and on the other side of the ballot, we vote for two parties who we would like to form a coalition in the event of another minority government.

Or we could modify the ballots so that they are like the Baseball Hall of Fame ballot with first, second, and third choices; first place being worth three points, second is worth two point, and third is worth one point. The total number of votes is then tallied and a winner is then declared - consider anything in order to see a government last four years.
Maybe if those voting for the conservatives would get their head out of the sand we woulnt need a coalition to run the country.

Only in Prince George.

Cheers
"Maybe if those voting for the conservatives would get their head out of the sand we woulnt need a coalition to run the country."

Hilarious. This is a well thought out and intelligent arguement against voting for the Conservatives! If only we were all as wise as Bridge. Maybe in my next life.
Looks like Harper must eat crow. Or else. He is the one that started this whole kerfuffle with his dictatorial, mean and vindictive behaviour.

Mean and vindictive are never a good idea, but how stupid is it to carry on like that being in a minority position?

Tea for me!
1. Harper is supposedly going to go against his own policy and appoint 18 senators just in case.

2. The Western Premiers want an infrastructure spending program to reduce the impact of the recession. That's the Premiers who are in charge of the western and more conservative minded provinces where the conservative opinion 250 readers reside! Then again, maybe that is the readers from Beijing and Baden Baden who are voting on here.

3. The Liberals have just selected a leader who will be a bit more demanding of Harper. Ignatieff is not the type to shrivel up and go away.

Harper has to give way to survive past January unless Ignatieff will tick off the NDP with his public position about whether to activate the coalition.

It'll be interesting to watch how both of them will play this one out. Its a game of bluff for sure.
Coffee FTW!
CTV: "Harper to appoint 18 senators."

Well, well. Here we go again. Is it any wonder that voters have become cynical or worse: indifferent!

This is the same guy who for years lamented the appointment of senators and vowed that all senators should be ELECTED,i.e. NOT appointed.

Of course, Hill and Harris would not find anything wrong with that, I am sure.

Back to the drawing board...obviously voters' opinions and wishes don't matter at all and promises are made to be broken whenever it is convenient.

Mulroney passed the GST by loading the Senate with a bunch of his buddies. So did Cretin. Nuthin' new folks. Move along.
Bridge, your comment doesn't make any sense.
"only in Prince George"

Only in Prince George what?
Is this news? Jay Hill got 64% of the vote in the last election. Be more interesting to do this again in a couple of months, when the fallout of this whole affair is known.
With a Liberal dominated Senate and all of the Opposition party's not willing or interested in changing the system to elected senators, and now they are choked because Harper is doing exactly what they wanted to keep in place. I think the Opposition should just shut up about this. It came back to bite them big time. Good for Harper. He's just playing by the rules the rest didn't want to change. So, suck it up princess.
Chesters got it right. People should do a little more in depth assessment of whats going on before they **shoot from the lip**

Here is a quote from Icabod Crane (Ignatieff) during an interview with the New York Times, on Universities.

((Places where impractical people who refuse to get real jobs go to think convenient, self-serving thoughts.))

On truthiness. ((Nothing is personal in politics, because politics is theater. It is part of the job to pretend to have emotions that you do not actually feel))

Have a nice day.
It would be more telling if the polls were done in areas which did not vote for the Conservatives in the last election, to see if the events of the last week changed any other opinions.
Truthiness? That sounds like a post doctoral word.
We (meaning the government of the people of Canada) had...how much?? 74 billion in the EI reserve bank until the conservatives dipped into it....now in times of economic uncertainty when the only thing certain is that EI claims are sure to rise due to job losses, it is not known if the government will be able to fund it. Yeah, thanks Harper! You AssH*&le.
Inquisitor. The money was taken out of the EI Account by Jean Chretian, and Paul Martin, and used to balance the budget. As I recall Martin skimmed off 46 Billion. There was some skimming by the Conservatives, however they brought in legislation to stop this practice.

The Supreme Court of Canada has just ruled that the LIBERAL Government broke the law when it channelled money from the EI fund to General Revenue, however it did not make any ruling as to whether the Government had to return the money.

Dont be in such a hurry to tack all this crap on the Conservatives.
