Kicking Into High Gear for Taekwon-do

180 Taekwon-do competitors from all across Western Canada  are in Prince George this weekend for the Western Canadian Taekwon-do Championships.

Among the competitors  are the 6 members of the Canadian Junior Girls Taekwon-do Team which will represent Canada at the world Junior Championships in Melbourne Australia in September of 2006.  What is remarkable,  is that three of the 6 call Prince George home.



Thirteen year old Erin Bull (on the left) and her 14 year old sister Sydney (right in this  photo) are two of the members of the Canadian Junior girls team.  The third Prince George girl on the team is  14 year old Destiny Dornbush.  All three  have been studying Taekwon-do with "Family Taekwon-do" and its Chief Instructor, Jordan Boudreau  who is a 4th degree black belt.  

The other members of the Junior Girls team are : 12 year old Lisa Wilcox of Calgary,  14 year old Cathleen Timlick of Calgary and 16 year old Brie Pettigrew of Victoria.

The Western Championships  are being held at the Connaught Youth Centre.


The competition is expected to begin with black belt competitions at 9:00 am with opening ceremonies to follow at 12:00 noon.
