This is the preferred design for the Veteran's Plaza and Spirit Square for  Prince George in front of  City Hall.

Prince George, B.C.- The estimates are in for the upgrade to the Cenotaph and the development of the Veteran’s Plaza and Spirit Square for Prince George.

According to Ian Wells, the plan developed by Erik Lees and Associates will cost about $900 thousand dollars. The City and Province will share the costs, 50/50.

The new Cenotaph will be all granite and will be closer to George Street. The Cenotaph upgrade will be paid for by Veteran's Affairs.

The project will now be brought forward for consideration during the 2009 capital budget deliberations and if approved, the construction bid documents would be completed early in the new year with construction expected to start in late spring and completion in full in 2009.

And the spending continues!
It's just money.
soak the taxpayer. Do these people not read what is happening with the economy. 900,000 dollars for a few trees and some rock work. Give us a break.
Yeah but the cost is split 50/50. Thats right; we pay for the first 50%...nuts and the second 50%. Maybe they will plant some potholes there as well.
My guess is that Prince George is the only city that is not part of the economic crisis and we can continue to spend on ART CENTRES, TRAILS AND PRETTY PARKS!! Just think how many low income housing units could be created with 55million, 11million and 900,000 dollars. Obviously the new council is no better than the old and they continue the "brains up the arse" antics.
Old habits are hard to break!
Spirit square? Do carpenters use that? I have a spirit level.
maby George st will become more attractive to the general public instead of the horny people.
