Atlin, B.C. -Redcorp Ventures Ltd. has extended the shut down of construction of the Tulsequah Chief Mine in the northwest of B.C.

The project had planned a three week shut down over the Christmas holidays but the Board of Directors of Redcorp has extended that shut down with no clear indication of when work will resume. In a news release, Redcorp says “The suspension of construction activities may continue for an extended period, at the discretion of the Board.”

The suspension does not include activities related to the construction and delivery of the Air Cushion Barge and towing equipment which is currently projected for completion in late January 2009.

While work on the site may be suspended, the company is moving ahead on paperwork including the remaining Environmental Assessment Approval processes for the use of the ACB, and the permits necessary for the use of that barge in Alaskan waters.

Redcorp says securing the necessary permits will also help pave the way for future funding.

The mine is located about 100 km south of Atlin and involves the reopening of a zinc-copper-lead-gold-silver mine that closed in 1957.
