Prince George, B.C. – It’s another case of “it seemed too good to be true”.
A Prince George woman received a cheque from Alliance Insurance out of New Brunswick for $9,000.00. Initially the woman had been advised she had won ten times that amount, but when she refused to give more information she was sent the cheque for the lesser amount. She was told to cash the cheque via ATM. She also received a letter saying she was to call another person about collecting the funds.
The woman opted instead to talk to staff at the royal Bank who confirmed there had been several frauds with someone using the name “Alliance Insurance.”
RCMP investigated and discovered there is in fact a company called Alliance Insurance Inc., and that someone has gained access to some materials in an effort to defraud the company across the country.
RCMP are reminding us to guard our personal information and confirm the legitimacy of offers and companies before engaging in further communication.

If someone tries to give you a cheque for $9000 for no apparent reason, there's your first clue.
When will people learn...
unless you are seeking out the information, that goodwill call probably isn't goodwill.
