Snow to Sand Flights A Sell Out

Prince George, B.C. - The direct flight from Prince George to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in its fourth year is proving to be a huge success.

Becky Madore of Uniglobe Travel in the city says, the direct flights to Mexico from Prince George are sold out on January 24^th, January 31^st, and February 14^th. Madore says, “There are only a couple of seats left in the January 17^th flight.”

“The strength and results so far with the bookings of our Mexico charters aren't a surprise" explains Prince George Airport Authority’s Manager Aviation Services, Todd Doherty. "We always believed in this market and its potential for this and other charters. West Jet Airlines and Transat Holidays have built this product to where it is today and this service is doing very well."

In its fourth year, Doherty says these companies took a chance on our market “When most companies were entrenching. Thanks to our customers support - some of whom use this service multiple times throughout the season - it is a success to date. But we want to ensure that we continue to keep services such as this and grow to offer even more charters to other destinations.”

Doherty says there is no room for complacency “In this industry we can never become complacent or take for granted the services we have because issues beyond your control can influence decisions on serving our market.” Such was the case with Horizon Air which started to provide direct service between Prince George and Seattle just as the price of fuel shot through the roof. The service had to be pulled before it had a real chance of establishing itself. The “Snow to Sun” flights offered between P.G. and Mexico have grown to be a solid option for Air Transat says Doherty “If we flood a service and over subscribe - it makes it very difficult for an airline to cancel.”
