Prince George, B.C.- Call it “Leadership North”.

The founding group came together in May of last year to promote local leadership development, organize and host a leadership summit in Prince George, and to motivate young leaders to get involved.

Leadership North wants to establish and enhance Prince George’s status as a centre of excellence in leadership.

The Leadership North reps, Greg Stewart, and Bill Lynch, requested support in principle for their project in the form of a letter from Council.

Stewart says Prince George has a  reputation for "punching above its weight".  He would like to see leadership events this year which would provide professional development opportunities.

Lynch says  this is the seed "If we plant this seed properly it could grow into something that will  help our recruitment and retention,  educational opportunities,  and the opportunity to show leaders from all over the world what  a wonderful city we have built over the past decade or so."

Lynch says CNC has started a leadership course and the University is also looking at a leadership program.  He beleives this concept will grow and support the future leaders of Prince George.
