CIty's Debt..Let's Do the Math One More Time

Let me clarify one more time the debt for the city of Prince George.

City Manager George Paul has issued a statement saying this is what the debt of Prince Goegre is in comparison with Kelowna and Kamloops. I did not receive a copy of the release for obvious reason, because I would have said rubbish!

As of December 31 , 2004 we owed $130,916,000
That’s the figure City hall is using and there is nothing wrong with that, assuming that you will then compare apples to apples and use the figures from Kamloops and Kelowna from the year previous, but they conveniently haven’t.

As of this date, the city of Prince George has borrowed, or in the process of increasing our loans to $154,500,000 dollars, end of story.

The city of Kamloops is just in the process of finishing off a new water treatment plant for the city at a cost of $22,000,000 dollars that is increasing their total debt to $60,000,000 million up from $37,434,328.00 at Dec 31st 2004.

The city of Kelowna (as of this date) has loans out of $82,320,000 of which $46,344,000 is made up of the Terasen deal.

Of the total debt for Prince George about $62,000,000 is made up of the Terasen deal.
Kelowna and Kamloops combined have a debt load equal to the city of Prince George.

Trying to use 2004 figures on one hand, while using 2005 figures for comparison on the other, leaves me wondering who has been teaching math at City Hall?

Again may I say if we re- build the Cameron St Bridge and the City’s contribution is $7.5 million, if we can’t receive any grants and we contribute $5 million to the sports center at UNBC and suddenly we are in the $165 million range.

Spin is spin.

The next thing we will be told is that through some magic figuring, our taxes are less than Kamloops or Kelowna!

I’m Meisner, and that is one man’s opinion

Anyone who has watched the performances at Prince George City Hall realizes they are a law unto themselves, and the taxpayers and their wishes are of no importance.
Cannot the people see the relationship between George Paul and Colin Kinsley is amplified past the point of being a working one re the city's business, and they are truly buddies. I would imagine the socializing brings into play many decisions re the city business being discussed and decided upon prior to any proposals to the council members, or administration personel. I maintain it is George Paul who runs this city, and the rest are pawns in the chess game which can easily be handled and removed from giving any imput which could be argumentative.
George Paul has been a detriment to this city, and Penticton was well rid of him.
He has to go!!!
Offet has cost the taxpayers heavily, and he has to go!!!!
The heavy handed administration in the other offices should be subjected to investigations. It is time to scrutinize their work habits.
A number of them should be replaced.
The buddy systems that have been in place ahould be wiped out.
Families who have the authority to have their other family members hired without being subjected to the proper hiring process being utilized has to come to a halt.
Does the By Law Enforcement officer now have any of his offspring employed by the city????
He did have!!!! Right???
I recall hearing that was being set up, and no other applicants for the jobs were being considered.
Rumors are rumors, but I have always maintained nobody just scoots around making these accusations up.
Where there is smoke, there usually is fire!!!!
NO ONE has ever looked into the procedures followed at City Hall to determine if their actions are for the benefit of the city itself and the burdened taxpayers.
Is it possible after this election on Saturday the employees can be called upon to answer certain questions, and any allegations can be checked out???
It will be tough!!
Any newcomers elected to council will be left in the dark as long as it is possible.
Then they will live in fear of exposing any wrongdoing they discover.
Politics is not a clean business-and civic is no less vulnerable to becoming dirty.
Who will get elected capable of shedding some light on the underhanded
goings on at Prince George city Hall.
And please, don't tell me there are not any!!!
I shall be waiting, but I will not hold my breath!!!!
These #'s are ridiculous. This city is setting itself up for disaster. They never release this kind of info. Why not you say? Because if everyone knew there would be a revolution. We need some action like in France and take back this town, enough is enough, Colin must go.

later........
Hang in there Spanky! Tomorrow is an opportunity for change. Hopefully we have ALL done our homework before we "COMPLETELY" fill in those little circles!
