New Superintendent Soon To Be Selected

Prince George, B.C. _ The City of Prince George  could soon have a new Superintendent for its RCMP detachment.
 
Wednesday, four candidates for the job were interviewed by City Staff and the RCMP. The interviews are said to have gone well and it has been confirmed, a woman is one of the candidates. 
 
The City has asked for some time to check references and do some background reviews on the candidates.
 
It is possible a successful candidate could be named as early as next week.
 
The position has become available through the transfer of Superintendent Dahl Chambers who has taken on new responsibilities at “E” Division headquarters in Vancouver.

I think a women Superintendent would be good for the city at this time. Obviously our biggest municipal problem involves the plight of women in our downtown core, so maybe a women would have more empathy for those issues?
Why would a woman be better? I thought men had reached equality with women? Are the days of a man rising through the ranks to a D cup ceiling still around? Hiring selection by gender over quality, were supposed to be gone.
Equality has come so far. Too far in fact. If everyone is equal, why does a woman deserve specific mention? Discrimination is discrimination, no matter who is on the receiving end. Thumbs down.
Ya you guys are right... what was I thinking.
