Smithers, B.C. - Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon says his ministry is taking stock of northern infrastructure projects that will get people to work quickly.

Falcon says there are some big opportunities for the Pine Pass, the Cariboo Connector, and the Highway 16 corridor.

He says the province wants to make sure things are ready to go so there won't be any month-long processes for tendering.

"We're trying to get the federal government to work with us to make sure that their dollars and approvals are in place  immediately too.  My goal is that the moment we get federal government approvals, we announce those projects and get 'em out."

Falcon is in Smithers today.  He's expected to make a major announcement regarding highway infrastructure spending.

I guess we may well be able to look forward to another kilometer of the Cariboo Con being sent to tender before the May election???

Well, let's just wait and see what he is going to say.

A lot depends on Harper and how he is going to spread around the stimulus money. Hopefully not all of it is going to go to provinces and ridings where he desperately needs votes.

Unfortunately he already has our two ridings (Hill&Harris) in his back pocket - we may just get the wall flower heave-ho.
