Quesnel, B.C. - A a tentative deal is in place that will see the Quesnel Millionaires hockey club sold to a local group of buyers.

Jeff Russell is a member of the team's board of directors and is acting as a spokesperson for the new ownership group.  Russell says the group is made up of between 12 to 20 local investors, including local business people, fans, and team boosters.  He says there are no plans to move the team out of Quesnel.

"This is a deal to keep the team strictly here in Quesnel with no intentions to move it outside the city.  We know the importance that it brings to the community."

The hockey club has struggled financially under community ownership.  Russell says financial terms of the deal and the identity of the new owners have not been released.

The deal to sell the Mills and keep the team in Quesnel has received support from the owners of the Williams Lake Timberwolves.  Co-owner Richard Kohlen says it's great news for Quesnel, the Cariboo region, and the BCHL.

The deal to sell the Millionaires has not yet received approval from the league.

It's hard enough to manage a business effectively when you have two owners - - can you imagine what the individual meddling of 12 - 20 owners will be like for the managers of this hockey team. Nothing I would want to be in charge of!
What you mean 12 to 20. Don't they know who is putting there money where there mouth is yet.

Hopefully the new owners will let the manager manage the team the way it should be, this way the team will get stronger, and the fans will start supporting them and then everyone is a happy camper.

Hopefully, they have an arrangement where the people who wants out can be bought out. This way, the ownership may be down to 5 or 6 in a few years.
