Prince George, B.C. - The City of Prince George says it has a full complement of snow removal crews out on the streets dealing with the latest dump of snow.  Officials say a strong number of contracted workers and equipment is out carving a path for commuters.

The city says snow clearing crews will concentrate on main arterial and bus routes during daylight hours.  Residential snow removal will occur today in the following areas:

• North of 5th Ave: Heritage, Highland & Sterling
• College Heights: Upper College Heights
• Bowl Area: Central Fort George, Crescents & Seymour
• Hart: Birchwood, Wilson, & Ridgeview

City officials are asking that motorists use caution around snow clearing equipment.  Residents should also avoid parking their vehicles on residential streets slated for snow removal.

Call the Snow Removal Hot Line at 250-561-7600 for more information about snow clearing operations.

Here's a tip. Put the blades all the way down so that it's not like driving in a war zone.
Hey, RUEZ, weren't you the one complaining last summer about the potholes, and how the city was ruining the streets because they were putting the blades on the asphalt, rather than let them float a bit?

Make up your mind.

By the way, can you come over and shovel out my driveway? Thanks
beesknees, why would you make up a lie like that since we know you can't prove it?
City is trying there best
the city is doing a great job of snow removal. I am out there 6 nights a week, and yes, they are plowing snow, a lot of snow. If you don't like it, move south, where there is nice warm sand, and pound it!! This is northern B.C., what did you really expect???

Keep up the good work snow removal crews!!

And for you idiots that insist on parking your vehicles on the side of the street, RIGHT across from where someone else has parked, grab a brain! The roads are narrow already from the heavy snowfall, and you want to plug them up completely! Did you ever think that an emergency vehicle may need to get down the road, and they are much wider than your average vehicle!

Like I have said before, 80% of you drivers shouldn't be on the road! When you combine lack of common sense, a lot of stupidity, and aggressive behavior, you have a very dangerous person behind the wheel!!
Roads these days have to look like the surface of a pool table for the low slung cars being built today.
A couple of things
1.The city is doing a real good job now and it is my thought because they are early in the 2009 budget for snow removal and there is lots of money. In December of 09 we will have the same problems as we saw this December
2.The reason the roads are like a war zone is that people are using chains in town & that is something council has to look at stopping
I would support a small increase in the tax rate to make sure the city has enough money for snow removal. $4 million seems not much to budget for the amount of roads we have. This has not increased much since I moved to PG in 1994. Inflation has increased alot more than this budget item.
Taxinapothole you nailed it on the head with people parking right across from each other. For all of those who drive Ospika, yes the left lane is less than half there, you must move over into the bicycle lane, please.

Those of you who think they know how to drive, are really annoying to those of us that do.
The city is trying its best, yes. My problem is the idiot who plows our street. Seems to me that this person does not respect the people who pay his wages. We have no one living across the street from us and it would be respectfull even NICE for this person to position his plow to move the snow that way. But NO!!! I came home on Monday (after cleaning my driveway) to 3.5 feet deep by 5 feet wide of wet heavy snow across my driveway. Ignorant piece of work!! Does this person even think of the disabled and/or elderly?? It amazes me how some people do not take pride in their work. I hope when he is old and withered that he is repayed in FULL.
