Disability Access Funding Announcement

Prince George, B.C. - 2010 Legacies Now is providing $20,000 for improved access to those with disabilities in the Fraser Fort George Regional District.

The money wll help the Regional District implement the Measuring Up the North Program which helps people with disabilities participate and contribute to their communities.  The Regional District will make accessibility improvements, such as automatic doors and low-grade walkways, at the Reid Lake and Ness Lake community centres.

The District of Vanderhoof will receive $15,000 which will go toward two local employment projects for people with developmental disabilities; the Bean on Burrard Coffee House and the Nechako Valley Community Organics Project.

The City of Williams Lake will also receive $20,000, while the District of Wells and the Village of Clinton will each receive $15,000 in funding.

All of the grants are part of $459,700 distributed by 2010 Legacies Now to 26 communities across British Columbia.
