Prince George, B.C.- News that Telus has signed a deal for a call centre in Las Vegas shouldn’t cause any worries in this part of the world. “We are expanding our services to be able to provide service to Spanish speaking clients” says Shawn Hall, spokesperson for Telus.
There had been some calls to Opinion250 from people concerned that the phone company was moving some of its operations to the Nevada city. Hall says the new agreement isn't a shift of jobs, rather, its an expansion.
He says the expansion  of services continues in Prince George “We bring in about 30 people every month, train them and get them working. The Telus call centre in Prince George has been there for decades and the expansion will be complete by mid summer.” The expansion will see the number of Telus call centre employees double from the current 75 to 150. That will bring the number of Telus employees in Prince George to about 325.
Hall says in addition to the expansion into the Spanish speaking services, Telus has also just signed a contract with Quebec to set up French services.
The new Las Vegas call centre will employ about 1,000 people.

I guess instead of having technicians to fix the problems you just hire more customer client agents to ignore/hear the complaints, but at least people got to complain to someone !
It is cheaper that way lunar. But, after all, the microchip has solved all of humanitys' problems, so why would you need technicians or even the trades people?
metalman.
Telus call center here is hiring (so is the ACS call center). Guess call centers are recession proof for now.
They say Las Vegas wasn't built by winners. Can we say the same about PG?
