lefty .... Debora is in ....
Congratulations Colin! I put this here even though I'm sure Colin will not read this post.
I cant believe it. well now we asked for it. And Yamadoo...maybe you're right. Its not like Colin is interested in what the city of PG has to say... so he probably wont see the comment.
Well you win some and you lose some. Colin got 8879 votes in 2002 and 8650 in 2005 so he actually lost ground. In addition he had 2811 votes against him in 2002 and 8801 in 2005. It pretty obvious that half of those who voted, voted against him. This should give him some food for thought before he goes on another spending binge.

It appears that he picked up the winning votes from those people who had the little extra drive because the Cameron St. bridge was closed. **Interesting**
Dan: Nice guys finish last. If you'd have made better known Kinsleys screw ups you'd of won. Dont assume people can piece the puzzle together themselves in their head.
Krisp, I agree about Diabold. Its a shame we have them counting our votes with their computer programs.

I think I spoted Dan tonight on Tyner Blvd collecting his signs?

I wish him luck, and think he deserved to win. Hopefully he thinks about running against Dick Harris in the federal election, but he might want a break from politics?

Time Will Tell
CONGRATULATIONS Colin!!! I was talking to a friend tonight and she told me you must be doing something right to win a 4th term!

Oh yes lefty! Poor us being "stuck" with 3 women on the council. Are you afraid their superior abilities will reveal what a inferior blowhard you are?
Lefty...... a wise person once said, "it's better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak up and remove all doubt".

So the people of PG have spoken! The same faces(with 1 exception)the same old tired ideas and 4 more yrs of ..downtown revitalization studies.Save the Cameron St bridge,if it had collapsed into the river, killing people, maybe then it would have forced their hand at dealing with it?The censoring of events that don't suit their backwoods/redneck thinking.I have never seen a place so mired down in their dislike of change, of anything.Every new idea is greeted with uproar (especially if its going to cost anything) and letters en masse to the "Citizen".Automated garbage cans,RV's parking at Wal-Mart,"Big Box" stores..amazing how the lots are always full considering no one will shop there as they lack the personal touch of our downtown merchants. After 2 separate incidents of "supporting" local businesses where it took over 2 wks, various excuses and numerous calls to get my goods(when ordering on-line has them here in 5 days and at my door)I don't bother! The Casino,Pine Valley Golf Course and it goes on.Hopefully the signs come down as quickly as they went up..what a waste of wood and paper for the results were disappointing.
The people have SPOKEN!!!!
They will now get what they pay for (joke), and they will really pay for what they get, (promise).
What do those boys have to worry about at City Hall now???
Just a few years of clear sailing-so they better make it pay!!!!
They should all be on the verge of retirement after the 3 years anyhow.
Was it really the people who wanted the city to become even more debt ridden over a new Cameron Street Bridge who were the deciding factor in the end result of this election????
Is Colin Kinsley really that popular????
I just find it all so hard to believe, but the people's choice must be wary, as his popularity slid dramatically, and maybe some of his cronies should be watching their backs also.
In my opinion-it really was a sad day for the residents of this city-but now they have made their choice, and all must live with it.
Keep the faith, and look out for higher taxes, metered water, streets being heated, lots of smoke and mirrors re downtown revitalization, and, and, and!!!!
Is that new report supposed to be out in December advising just how downtown is to be revitalized??
Same old, same old.
A friend told me once, "Cheer up, things could be worse."
So I cheered up, and sure enough, things got worse.
This time I will not cheer up!!
What a drag.
Ok, Mr. Colin Kinsley, I have a job for you: Find out why 1st Avenue was NOT paved this year as promised by MLA Pat Bell (last year and again) this year in the spring!!! It was scheduled to be re-surfaced from Victoria Street all the way to the intersection at the Ritchie Bros. auction site! GM is cutting back to save money, perhaps we can offer this
crude excuse for a road to GM to be used as a torture track for their 2006/2007 models? Perhaps the money was side-lined to Whistler or Kamloops, which already looks like Seattle North with all the six-lane highways, clover leaves, over/under passes and so
forth!

What kind of impression do we give tourists when they navigate this potholed moonscape to the
fancy new tourist info office on First Avenue?

Just coming back from the Okanagan I can't imagine one city that would put up with such blatant neglect except good old PG.

The Hart has Croft Road,
Cook Crescent, West Austin Road, Highland Drive (not touched for
two decades) and other streets that have been abandoned, or so it seems.

Forget any new super projects that are nothing but ego trips; start rebuilding the basic infrastructure now!
Oh, yes: I forgot about deplorable Victoria Street and 20th Avenue.

Doesn't ANYBODY at City Hall notice this???????
Why should they notice bad roads??
Not in their job description.
They will be busy now with new rates, meters, a new bridge. increased gambling facilities and this big new project downtown, plus heating the streets, and cleaning up the air, just to mention a few areas to focus on.
I wonder how many tourists care about 1st Avenue and road conditions. I don't think there is an over abundance of tourists visiting Offet's expensive tourist building on 1st. 7 or 8 hundred thousand was a drop in the bucket for a council that prefers to deal in the millions.
Now they can ship that bunch off to Italy-maybe with a few grandiose stop overs.
And take the mayor-he will need a holiday now.
These poor folk have had a strenuous past few weeks.
Have to recuperate somewhere nice-and after all it is snow season here.
Back to the fun and games.
Good post, gypsy! Love it!

I actually thought that City Hall and the elected officals had some responsibilities, but you helped me to see more clearly. Take a drive on Foothills Blvd
and check out the stretch between Moore's
Meadows parking lot and
15th Avenue. Let me know if you encounter more than 20 feet of unbroken,
unpatched, unglued original pavement!

I would expect to see such poorly done patchwork in Bangladesh or Somalia!

Cheers!
